When did she open her last Amex account? Could it be she got the "5 day hold"? They won't pull her credit until after the 5 days if that's the case.
My last one took took 41 days and was finally approved. Nobody there could tell me why it took so long. Amex customer service is not that great compared to my other accounts.
Amex can take their own time for approval. It is better to wait patiently or risk Amex starting a Financial Review and start requesting all kinds of Tax documents. Good to keep it low and wait for them to respond.

All she said was the denial letter states she hasn't been an Amex account holder long enough. I have not seen it but I doubt she would lie to me.... but I have not heard of that denial reason before.
I thought the same about once you are in future approvals were easy. Who knows. She has good fico scores too-well, clean reports and pretty good scores... high 600's to low 700's.
Hm that's an interesting denial and one i haven't heard of before. I got quite a few cards from them within a few months. What a bummer for your friend.
