Apologize for reviving this thread but I thought it would be better than starting a new one. I recently applied for the Amex platinum and was denied. Afterwards I requested a recon and was denied again for the following reasons with no HP.
Lack of revolving bank card balances.
Length of time accounts have been established.
Length of time consumer finance company loans have been established
Proportion of revolving balances to revolving credit limits is too high.
I find it odd because I don't have balances on most of my cards and the ones that do are under 30% utilization. Do you think it is worth another recon try? Any help is appreciated as I travel weekly for work and the perks are perfect for me.

Also I forgot to mention. I have scores in the 690s and already have a BCE and gold card with them that have never been late. I would upgrade the gold but it's less than a yr old. I should have applied for platinum upfront in hindsight
I think it's good to have a seperate post from you since your situation is different from the original poster of this thread...
Anyway... How long have you had BCE and gold? Did you always pay in full each month or did you carry balance? Just make sure you have less than 10% utilization reported on one card (doesnt have to on Amex card) and then pay everything in full before it's due. Keep doing this for one month or two and then apply for it again or you could also try to recon again and see if you can speak with a supervisor.
I have seldom been denied by Amex so it's hard to offer personal experience but I think Amex denial is somewhat hard to recon... Maybe someone else here can offer more detailed and helpful suggestions.

I would wait for the letter and then call for a recon. If its still denied then write a letter and request a recon. Alot of people have been successful with written recons.
When you say letter, do you mean an actual snail mail letter, or an email letter?
@Anonymous. Write a letter and sent it to the address listed on the denial letter. The letter should address each reason for the denial. @Anonymous did this and was approved. I have a sample letter I can PM you.
