Hi
I just logged into my Amex account and noticed my CL slashed from 25K to 14K ...not sure if that happened with my new SPG app where I do not know the CL yet.
Is this normal? I mean I can easily live with 14K on BCE... now I wonder what CL I will get on SPG ... any way to check CL without calling ?
You should be able to add the card to your existing account from your approval email and then be able to see your CL. Strange still that they would slash your existing limit and add it to the SPG without talking to you first.
Thanks Irish. I have not yet received the approval email yet and also did not option for the temporary account number at the approval. But I just checked my latest Experian report and the CL on the Amex BCE was 25K at the last reporting. Todays HP is also visible so it hopefully has something to do with the new SPG app. Now I hope the SPG limit is not 1K. I guess I will need to wait to solve that mystery if I do not want to call Amex.
My curiosity got over me so I did a little chat with Amex and it looks that the CL of the BCE indeed got cut to open the SPG. According to chat rep BCE from 25K to 14K and 11K used to open SPG. Looks that 25K is the total limit for me with Amex. Amex could have done so with a SP as no new credit with this action ...lol.. jkd

Wow sorry to hear
This is really strange as Amex usually allows the shifting of limits per your request to open new accounts
But gald it worked in your favor
Congrats on the SPG

what is your usage with amex ? BCE very low because I have cards with better rewards
whats your payments like ? pay in full on Amex, 2 cards with carry balances due 0% offers, 7 accounts with reported balances and 5 % util
what are you scores ? EX Fico was 780 today
whats your income listed on the app ? 65K (same as for the 25K CLI)
No big deal about the slash of CL as I do not need a 25K CL but I find it very interesting that I did not get a single $ more in CL from Amex for a new card app. Chase and Barclays were way more generous than Amex

Congratulations on the SPG.
I'm guessing they took a look at your spend rate on the BCE and determined that you aren't going to be using $25k any time soon, so just get to the good stuff and move $11k over to the SPG.

Thanks..... It was a really interesing instant approval online .. 60seconds as advertised and 25K limit on BCE reduced immediately to 14K when I logged in So the computer can do this automatically it looks ..lol.. SPG will definitely see more use as BCE
... Amex heard my comment of travel cards with FTF and removed the FTF now
