Amex woes

well I have two amex cards. One business and one personal, amex lowes and blue sky. I got lowes first back in January of 2014. Then a month later or so got the blue sky. Well I have asked for an cli on the lowes three times now I no luck. No increase of any kind. Reasons primarily due to credit inquires, age of accounts, number of accounts and utilization of under 12%. I press the button on my personal one after lowes twice and says I can't have an increase due to recently asking an increase on the lowes card. My limit is 1500 on lowes. I'm a home improvement contractor and seems a tad low to me since I also have a business Home Depot of almost 4 times the limit of lowes. What should I do? Just wait till accounts age more and inquires fall off? Which would be next year.

Call credit solution on the Lowe's account. (You can find this number at the top of the Credit Applications forum in the backdoor number thread.)

Re: Amex woes

Called the executive department, and talked to a very nice lady. She typed in what I wanted which was 3x my cl. Said I should receive something in the mail 7-10 days. I got a nice thank you card from her like three days later. Got the denial letter few days later. Saying proportion of balances to high to available credit. I guess 11% utilization is too high. Oh well. I'll try again later this year.

What is your credit utilization on ALL your credit? Are any cards close to maxed out?

Agreed. Amex values their relationship with its members, but CLI can be difficult if it is not autoapproved. Look into your which CR they pulled there might be something there that you are unaware of. Good Luck!

Re: Amex woes

There is hope out there. I recently asked for a 3x cli on my amex lowes card and they did give me a new line 3x the original. Only took 1.25 years to get an increase.
