Ive had my Discover for about 5 years. SL was $800 and now sits at $20.4k
I have a $0 balance and always PIF
My other posts will show I started making credit moves in the last month, so that may be what prompted the request.
I have always liked the LUV button lol
ETA: Incidentally another person in my household was approved for a new Discover account 4 days before I received this request and he subsequently received the same request a couple of days after I did. He hasn't even received his card yet. Idk if relevant.
My income (joint taxes) is about 100k more than stated.
Does anyone know they go off total income on taxes or mine personally?
I'm not even sure if I want to allow access as it seems a bit invasive for a credit card I don't even need.
If I closed it at this point, would it reflect badly on credit? Would be closed by me not grantor yes?
Happy Independence Day to all!
Data points on Discover are all over the place.
No way to know what caused it.
I believe Discover is one that uses personal income not household
Hope others in the know, will answer.
As for 4506-C, totally up to you.
Most don't seem to mind, I would close the card.
I don't recommend the card anymore just because of this common request.
They don't know it, and would not care, but have lost a few new customers because of me.

somebody who didn't even file taxes on here said they had a 4506-C request and they said they were fine, I assume the 4506-C kicked back a non-filers statement or something
I don't think you have much to worry about as an actual real person who files their taxes and they certainly aren't going to be spooked by a higher income number, much less a lower one
Income means wages, salary or tips, you currently earn or can reasonably expect to earn. Other examples include bonus pay, commissions, and income from rental property, interest, dividends and retirement benefits paid.
If you are 21 or older, you may include another person's income that is available to you.
it seems you're more than welcome to use the household number
if giving that info to them is worth it for $75 a month sometimes is up to you
just as you have other credit options, they have other customer options and they wouldn't be asking you to provide it if they didn't account for the % of people who would be good to go who choose to close out their accounts anyway
if you want it to say closed upon consumer request, you'll need to request the closure, don't let them close it automatically by not responding

This is accurate. The pre-qualify link has that statement for even the secured card.
I went ahead and submitted the form.
I debated and concluded my info is all out there anyhow so really not protecting anything. Privacy is a farce 😁
I did call and they said it was for identity not income. 🤷🏻♀️ Either is fine, I AM me and income is more than reported.
I imagine all credit will all get to this point and honestly who can blame them?
If I was letting someone have access to tens of thousands of my dollars, I'd likely want to know their bathroom schedule 😅
I'm not sure how this would establish identity or financial security 🤔 but the point is no info would be too much!
I will update whether or not I remain part of the Discover fam!
@Trinzero the 4506 is just for identity verifacaiton - my income was off over 50k and i passed with flying colors
Thanks for sharing!
Glad it worked out for you.
I'm still waiting 😅
Its official.
I am me.
I suspected as much, but it's nice to have clarification.
Maybe I should ask for a CLI now 😁
Congrats @Trinzero . Little extra effort to keep it going!
For the first time, I received one of these random 4506-c requests from Discover today, after more than 8 years of membership with perfect payment history.
I promptly complied.
Will see what happens.
They haven't been doing anything for me lately, so I guess I don't have too much to lose if they take adverse action.
