Re: Another Discover CLI Rejection

I have been getting rejected for months and had good luck prior to Covid. I can't remember when exactly I was last approved. My year anniversary is at the end of the month and my score has jumped up quite a bit so I'll apply then.

I'm anticipating rejection but it will be a good data point.

edit: Last CLI in March.

Re: Another Discover CLI Rejection

Sorry for your decline.

I only clicked the button once in January when my card was a few months old and got a CLI. I finally decided to try again for my second one yesterday, and didn't even get far enough to decline. It just gave me a message saying a credit increase is not available at this time.

My Dad said he talked to Discover on the phone a few weeks ago and that they told him you can't get an increase in the first year. So maybe with covid-19, they tightened up and I squeezed through before the change.

I've read about that on here too. My second Disco is a Chrome that I got in October of last year. Got a small CLI on it pre-Covid but now I also get the message that an increase is not available.

Re: Another Discover CLI Rejection

That's the first I've heard of no CLI in the first year.  I'd be curious to hear from anyone that was approved for the card since Covid-19 that has gotten a CLI.

Still good thoughSmiley Wink. Im poor and i achieved 16.5 on my It. Honestly, i woyld not take any Disco cli rejection personally.  They are so random that getting any is a special feat in and of itself. Just be glad it isnt like Cap One lol. Though to be fair if one spends heavy enough one has a higher chance of getting a cli from C1 whereas  you could spendthe moon on Disco and still get squat.

Nah I didn't. Their decision is totally understandable. Though if I keep buying car parts for the next few months, they'll probably raise my limit if I try again haha. But yeah Disco is pretty lenient with me actually since I opened my card. I just sockdrawered the card far too long lol.

Ya, it was the first I heard. I mentioned to him that sometimes not all reps know all the rules/say different things, and that he should try online instead. That's when I tried to show him how to do it with my own account and I got the "no CLI is available at this time" before I could even submit a request. I attributed it to what the rep told him on the phone, since my card isn't a year old until next month. I'll try again in September. I've seen recent Discover CLIs posted on here, but I'm not sure if any were under a year old with the card.

Re: Another Discover CLI Rejection

I have had an interesting experience with my Discover CLIs. I think that 1-year rule thing definitely applies, sometimes. When my secured card graduated, they gave me a CLI to $2k from $700. After that, I wasn't able to get a CLI for a full year, even though the account was already 11 months old. Since then, I have gotten a few CLIs and the card is now up to $3,800.

On the other hand, I also have the Miles card, which I opened in 03/2020 with a starting limit of $2k. I have been denied every month for CLI and have not gotten any auto CLIs on it either. I did call in after the fourth month, and they told me that same line about not being able to get a CLI in the first year. I am paying in full and using a substantial portion of the limit each month, so I am going to continue to hit the button.

Also, let me also share my experience with the timing. I have only been approved for CLIs after a new statement cuts and waiting several days. If you click the button twice during the same billing cycle, you'll get the same denial reason. It really only makes sense to hit the button once a month, about 4 days after your statement posts. On my other card, I have gotten CLIs two months in a row from them, by waiting until the system has "reset" on that 4th or 5th day after the statement cuts.

CSRs are notoriously misinformed and inconsistent.  I've called a creditor 3 times and spoken to 3 different CSRs in the span of 10 minutes and been given 3 different answers to the same question.

Re: Another Discover CLI Rejection

I just got a $3000 Cli with Discover last week but I just hit a year last month. Before that its was always a no, for whatever reason.
