Use the card. PIF throughout. Keep clean and PIF right before statement. 3rd cut, hit the luv button.

I've been maxing my $300 card and PIF 3 or 4 times a month. In less than 3 months I've spent over $2k on my $300 limit. My 3rd cut is in a week and a half. I let you know if I get a CLI and how much it is.

Spending a lot and PIF is seems like the strategy many suggest, but paying in full before the statement cuts? so you have been reporting 0 previous 2 months and plan to report 0 this month? Many suggest leaving small balance, so your approach is a bit different and would be good to hear your result in a week and a half.

My approach is to spend and PIF as many times as you can during the statement cycle, then pay down and let a 5% ($15 in your case) balance report on the statement

Do this for 2 full statement cycles (60+ days), then go for your first CLI - and I have a 'formula' for use when requesting a CLI with Capital One:

1. Stop using the card, and wait for all pending transactions to post

2. Pay down to exactly $10

3. Wait 24 hours from payment posting for the $10 balance to register with their internal servers

4. Push the CLI button

5. Resume using the card

BONUS STEP - this is also the proper timeframe to get onto their web chat and ask to be upgrades from Platinum to QS, so that you can start earning 1.5% when resuming your spend

Have fun!

Awesome. I read your story and saw that you did your first CLI in 77 days, but I wasn't sure if this was after second statement posting. Do you think doing this will help me unsecure my Discover? They lately been unsecuring in 7 months, but I am on 9th cycle and still haven't unsecured. Maybe because I didn't use it from Nov to March. It is only $200 and it is not the money that makes me unsecure. I got Visa Signature from US Bank and Amex card, both highly regarded cards, but I still can't unsecure this little $200 from Discover.I would gladly let them have the $200 at this point if they unsecure it lol

Naah - going to recommend against this with Disco for 2 reasons:

1. they're more sensitive to your overall profile than what you do with the card itself

2. you're already going to be maxing your use of Cap One, right?  don't split your focus!

Re: Any wise advice on the next move?

Update: I just hit CLI button and my credit limit got increased to $400 Smiley Very Happy      I was expecting more as I had 2 baddies fell off since opening account and score increased around 60 points, but I guess no luv for me this time (although $100 increase that I got is 33%!). I even did a prequal on their website so that they can soft pull me before apply. Also, I called and tried to upgrade to QS, but no go there. She said they didn't have any offers, but I could apply for one. No, thanks.
