I literally just joined this Credit Union less then 2 weeks ago and saw one post here from this thread back in 2019 from @Anonymous and they stated (And I quote)"I have a friend in in Provo, UT and lets just say he could be better about budgeting/living within his means...he has been through bankruptcy twice and both credit unions took care of his needs (car loan, credit card, HELOC) right after discharge with decent rates."

I have a Chapter 7 filed September 2020 and it was discharged December 2020. This is one of the top 10 largest credit unions in the country but there has been little to none discussion about this particular here on MyFico that i've been able to find, that one post from that one thread in 2019 is about the only thing i've found.

Not sure about your question but not finding alot of info here on one of the top 10 CU in US speaks volumes.
Well I went ahead and applied decided to be a guinea pig I guess. Said it was referred to a loan specialist for review and that I will hear back (Not surprising) They have a secure document uploader in the online banking so I decided to be proactive and went ahead and uploaded PDF files of my 2 most recent paystubs there.
They have secured cards too. No idea if they graduate or anything. I'll just wait and see what ends up happening.
Royalbacon,
This post peaked my curiosity, since there are very few posts on myfico and a couple of other sites about this CU.
I read the credit card and loan disclosures, and there was no bankruptcy reference. In my opinion, it looks like they are bankruptcy friendly based off their disclosures and products they offer.
Your worst case scenario is they decline the application and you recon the decision. If you have to recon the decision, bring up the positive payment history on your cards and car loan with CapitalOne. Also discuss the steps you have taken to prevent you from missing payments and prevent you from having another bankruptcy.
Quick question, is Cabela card the Mastercard version or store card?
Please let us know the outcome.
Guyathebeach
The Cabela's is the MasterCard version, I don't even think there is a Non-MasterCard Store only version.
Since I was only approved for that on December 17, 2021 that one isn't reporting/showing on my credit reports yet. All they'll see is my 1 year old Capital One venture, 7 month old Capital One Auto Loan and 5+ year old Kohls Card.
I'll definitely share the outcome when I get it!

Yes, Hard Pull on Experian. Hasn't looked like I've gotten a second hard pull for the credit card app. They called Monday afternoon, went over my income and the other accounts listed on my credit report (She never mentioned my bankruptcy and I forgot to ask if that was going to be an issue or not) and said they were shooting it off to an underwriter and I should hear back within a day hopefully. I'll update here when I find out!
Im in Minnesota by the way and way outside of their footprint (Which for this credit union is Utah and a handful of other states in that surrounding area) and joined via the Nevada PTA. The lady on the phone who helped me with my membership joined the PTA for me and they paid the fee to join the PTA as well for me which is awesome. They don't really advertise that they're open to everyone but they most definitely are.
After talking Monday I had yet to hear back. I called this morning and found out I was approved with a $1000 limit! Looking at my Experian credit report, it looks like I never got a second hard pull so I am assuming they reused the hard pull from when I joined 2 weeks ago!
Since this is one of the top 10 largest credit unions in the country and there is very, very little info on this particular credit union on websites like MyFico, hopefully the datapoints I've provided will be helpful to anyone who stumbles into this thread in the future via the search function here on MyFico or from any search engine.
I've started an approval thread here!

This thread can now be locked as it's served it's purpose, and to answer my initial question, yes they are indeed BK friendly!
