Anyone with good understanding of softpull data?

When you do a softpull to see if you are prequalified for an offer or a softpull is done for CLI... is that realtime data that the card company looks at or is it based on a monthly or periodic pull of data they get and store in their database.

What I'm trying to figure out is if my score just jumped 50 points... are they able to see that in their softpulls immediately or do I need to wait 30 days before using the softpull data so it has time to update my new score range?

Thanks.

Re: Anyone with good understanding of softpull data?

If they SP you they are able to see it immediately.. SP's pretty much show the exact same thing as a HP does.. Only real difference I know of is a HP allows other creditors to know that you are seeking credit hence the HP on your credit.

With a SP they can see the exact same thing as a HP.  However to answer your question you need to wait before they SP you before they'll see any score increase.  Typically when you ask for a SP CLI they are just reviewing whatever SP that they have on file and that can be several months old.

Is this what Amex does? Do we know how old these soft pulls data could be?

You can find out when Amex last soft pulled you through annualcreditreport.com or whatever it is to get your yearly reports and that will show the SP's or AR from AMEX on your report or there are other ways of obtaining who SP'ed you on experian as well..  Last time I simply called up Experian dispute dept. and ask I needed to know all the dates of AMEX sp's for Account reviews since I can't purchase that on any of there products and they actually provided me with those dates, I was amazed!Smiley Happy

W/regards to Amex...  If you apply for a new product from an existing account they will SP you that day and HP you if approved most of the time...  If it is for a CLI, they use the last SP they have on you, being when they last checked up to make sure you are staying out of trouble... Hope this helps.

Wow thank you, didn't know some of this. I knew of the HP for the new card but not about the soft pull from whenever they last checked. I'm going to be asking for a CLI soon so this is good info to have.

Re: Anyone with good understanding of softpull data?

This is exactly what I was afraid of.... so basically I can't use my new scores/utilization situation to my benefit.. because you are saying that softpull data wont be fresh.. it will likely be them looking at my credit picture from 30-60 days ago when they HP'd me. ;(

So you just wait.  It's not that long before a SP will be done.

If only there was a way to convince them to do a soft pull on you manually...like claiming you might be interested in a better card or something. IDK, lets see what Irish says.

Re: Anyone with good understanding of softpull data?

So just as a question... using someone like Cap One or Chase as an example.. with their "see if you are prequalified" tools. How often is that data refreshed? Does anyone know?
