So app day is coming soon, I want to apply for my new cards the same day I close. My current UTI is 14% and fico 8's about the same as my siggy. I did do the pre qual for the lowes card and got 2,000 SL with 26.** apr. That is my back up in case I get denied for others. So far plan is to app for my second nfc. That is almost a solid approval. Still debating with Amex since I still haven't gotten any offers. What would be a good back up for a EXP puller. Also still plan to app for Penfed as well. Thoughts.

You do not need a prequal from Amex to be approved. Many Citi cards can pull Ex as does WF. Cap One cards are 3 hps but i wouldn't waste them on a card that most likely wont grow. Also if you are looking to get any Chase card, plan according to that not on spreeing because you can. 2 years is a long time to wait for a credit card so make your Chase card count.

The 14-day 'message' isn't always a denial.   There's been reported instances in which additional verification may be required but YEMV.  You can periodically check the AmEx application status website to view the progress of your application.

Sorry to hear that OP.  

There should be an option where you can click to learn the reason(s) on why the application was not approved.  Maybe you can provide some DPs for the community.

If it helps at all, I cold apped for Gold on 5/3/2019 and was declined. Three weeks later I had a preapproval for it, re-apped, and got it (incidentally, four days after my BCP approval). Not sure why that all happened but maybe you'll see a similar result...

AAOOA 6 Years Mostly old closed accounts

AAOA 11Months Should have waited till I hit 12

FICO 9 EQ 711 TU 692 EXP 682

FICO 8 EXP703 TU 705 EQ 702with 8 Inquiries 3 are from mortgage shopping.

Newest account opened July 29th 2020 last was March 2020 that was it for the year.

3 Lates 4 years ago showing on EXP

Was approved for NFCU Plat $6,800@14.99 was hoping for more but I'll take it. Was also just denied Penfed Plat but countered with the PC with $1,000@17.99.

No HP on Amex or Penfed yet on HP I got instant was NF.

Any other decent cards my DP to get with a EQ or EXP puller. Then off too the garden for 2 years.
