App Spree ideas

Lots of smart experienced people on this site.  I'm looking for comments, critiques,  or ideas for an upcoming app spree.  Goal is to pick up 3 - 4  new cards that give a fair generous SL (anything less than 5k will be considered a fail) and either a low interest rate or great cash rewards.   Don't need anymore travel cards.

My profile:

Around 775 across the board

no negatives

5 inquiries each, none in the last 6 months.

Will be 7% - 9% utilization

I am blacklisted at Chase, maxed out on Capital One,  and can't do credit unions because I can't verify income with tax returns only.

I am looking at BBVA Clear Points, AMEX BCE, BOA Americard, Barclay CashForward, Wells Fargo Cash Wise, US Bank Cash Plus.

Please comment on one of them above, any of them above, or anything I am not mentioning.  Especially looking for new ideas of cards I am missing that is not Chase, not CapitalOne, and not credit unions.

Thanks so much!

Re: App Spree ideas

Here you go some of the best cards

5% rotating categories you have Discover IT and US Bank Cash+ (I recommend both)

2% on everything you have Citi Double Cash and Paypal Cashback (I recommed the later)

Amex BCE is a must if you go to small grocery places (Trader joes - vons - albertsons) however if you go to big supercenters or wholesales you might get their personalized credit card example (Target redcard or Citi Cosco) But forget about walmart card its useless (BCE gives 3% at walmart neighbourhood)

Uber card by barclays is good you get 4% at restaurants and fastfood and other perks

NRA Visa card gives you 5% cash back on gas

the rest of the cards you mentioned (Wells fargo wise - barclays cash forward - bank of america - bbva compass) are basically useless at this point if you got the cards above and the only good thing about these cards are sign up bonus but long term useless

Regards

Citi DC though sl can be as lame as a duck even for people with good scores.

I have pre-quals with the Citi cards but like you said I have found them to be very lame on the SL, and CLI are not big enough to make up the difference.

You had me excited for a minute as I had not thought of the Paypal Cashback card and Synchrony Bank loves me.  BUT turns out you can't have a Cash Back card if you already have the Extras card.  sigh.

I have the Discover already and the Citi cards are just not generous on SLs.  But I am glad to hear you like the US Bank Cash Plus.  I am nervous about that one as some say it's hard to get but I think it's a good logical choice for me.  Obviously the AMEX BCE is a no brainer, I totally agree with you.

Need to look at the UBER vs the Cash Forward and see which.  Sounds like you don't like the Cash Forward.

Not to discourage you, but with your credit file, you better stay in the garden and continue to grow there.  No need to put on more stress with your credit.  Spree will likely hurt your credit.

Re: App Spree ideas

With barclays they are really picky which is weird given that Issures like Chase and Amex have way better cards and easier to get

So you gotta pick your card with barclays

The Cash forward card offers sign up 200 after you spend 1000 in first 90 days and you get 1.5% cash back

I think the minimum redemption on that one is $50 or something and even if there is no minimum redemption

Paypal offers 2% and so does Citi double cash so why use barclays cash forward on the long term ?!

Also according to your signature you already have Quick silver which offers 1.5% anyway

Re: App Spree ideas

Yeah I've actually decided to go with the Uber card(also Barclay) instead of Cash Forward.  I read the approval string on Uber and it seems I should be able to do just as well with the Uber as with the Cash Forward except the Uber looks like a way better card.  I am going for another Barclay card because Barclay seems to like me so I want to roll with that and get the better SL hopefully.

The Citi double cash is a good product but I will get a crappy SL with Citi.  I can't get the paypal cash back because I already have the Paypal Extras.

Really trying to round out my portfolio with diverse cards, higher limits, and will end up aging them over time once I have a decent collection.  I know the app spree will lower my scores.  I am looking more long term.  Right now my portfolio is too narrow with small lines and that won't change unless I have a bigger base.  So yes I am hurting my credit a bit now in my building phase,  but in five years should be sitting on a great diverse base of cards that have hopefully grown.

Re: App Spree ideas

Why don't you call paypal or synchrony see if you can product change or better

shut off the extras card (if its not that old) and get yourself the paypal cashback

Re: App Spree ideas

Well I just got the Extras card from 3k to 10k, and I am very pleased about that and don't want to rock the boat.  But a PC in the future could be an idea.
