Can I app back-to-back? I feel like that's a yes, but now I'm questioning my idea. This is all so new to me. I have never really paid attention to my credit until SO and I recently bought a house and needed high enough scores. My goal is to spread my current CC debt with BTs over a couple cards then garden while paying it off.(Then never carry more than 9% total util again.) The 3 cards I want to app usually each HP from different CRAs according to my research. (PenFed, Barclay, and Discover) Will my FICO drop after I app the first and then second places, thereby making me less appealing to the 2nd and 3rd lenders? I currently only have 2 CCs and only a couple inqs. Thx
Barclay and Discover usually both pull TU, but it seems that varies.
Definitely pick the cards you really want and not worry about where they are pulling. Especially with just 3 cards you will be ok. Penfed and Discover are fantastic choices.
Could you offer us more data points such as your FICO scores, AAOA, inquiries, accounts, utilization....thanks!!
Sure. I didn't want to bog down my post unless someone thought the info pertinent.
FICO 8s right now EQ 739, TU 727, EX 728. (no baddies)
AAoA 9 yrs.
INQs 1 EQ, 2 TU, 2 EX
Chase 5400/10000
Amex 4400/21000 (0% intro ending next month)
and a Mortgage
Not bad at all...utilization around 32% but still looks good for some instant appprovals IMO...good luck
Agreed, you are good to go.
I would do Discover first since they are unpredictable and definitely a company you want in with. Then I would do Penfed 2nd. Whoever else you choose I'd do 3rd.
What are your goals with the cards? Looking for specific rewards, offers, or high limits?
Thank you, both.
Oh yeah...right now I need to do a BT. I want to avoid the extra $1-2K in int that my current cards will charge if I can. Do you think BankAmericard w/ 3% transfer fee and 0% int for 18 mos(been banking with them for years) or Barclay Ring with no transfer fee and 0% int for 15 mos would be a better 3rd option? I know Barclay's rep is going down. They are both pretty basic cards, beyond the BTs.
