It would be interesting to get some DP arround liklihood of getting an approval after a request for additional info. Such as address verification or pay stubs.
I see lots of people getting approved for a card after receiving a request for addtional info or verification.
personally Amex requested a bank letter for address verication .
I took time off from work to go play lap dog for them. Then got a denial.
I think it was just an excuse to do a denial.
Personally if another lender, especially amex ask for info during an app, they can place that request in a differant location
It's not an excuse. Sometimes there are two distinct steps, first one being establishing identity of the person that applied, in a nutshell that's fraud prevention we lovingly call *verification*.
Often, that's all that's needed.
If a person cannot produce requested documents, or lender funds them unacceptable, that's the reason for denial in itself, regardless of CR.
Sometimes it precedes the actual decision making on approve/deny.
First they establish it's you, then decide what happens with the application.
So it goes something like "Hey guys, let's make sure it's them who applied, then we will decide what to do" vs. verification which is "Hey guys, let's make sure we're approving the right person".
I agree that fananancial institutions are responsible for verfying proof of identity.
But since I was already an Amex card holder, and had a Amex savings account. It doesn't make complete sense.
But perhaps they were using their playbook or script and not understanding that i was already known to them.
I was also pre-qualified for the card and they used my latest score which had gone up 12 points when I submitted the app.

It doesn't? Because fraudsters only apply for credit with lenders their victims don't already have credit with? C'mon, now.
