The Chase card will be a month old by the time I'm thinking of applying for the AmEx Rose Gold, and it is the Chase Freedom card. It has been at least six months since any other apping or adding new cards to my portfolio.
I think it's fine. Most of Chase's post approval neurosis comes from applying for too many Chase cards in short period of time, or when their cards are included in app sprees.
Of course, no one can tell what is/isn't going to happen for sure, but I see nothing alarming there especially because that amex wont make an appearance on CR for another couple of months (usually)
But what if your last Chase card put you at 5/24? Could applying for the Gold card, essentially putting you at 6/24, cause Chase to go AA on you?

Applying for a Chase card that would put you at 6/24 could possibly end up an outright denial. In a case like this, I would advise going to a branch to see if you have a preapproval.

I went to a Chase branch to check pre-approvals and I seem to be pre-approved for all the Sapphire cards (Preferred and Reserve), Freedom cards, and the Slate card. 😁
Ok.... so... now you want a Chase card instead of Gold?
