Apping is too much fun. Time for one last go round or behave?

Hey everyone,

I'm posting from my iPad so I apologize in advance for typos and misspelt words.  I've decided my escape from the garden was pretty fun and VERY successful Smiley Very Happy. This makes me very reluctant to head back into the boring garden, no offense to gardeners...  Before I decide to screw the pooch and piss off Barclays, I wanted to get some feedback on if I should call it quits and garden or try to get my foot in the door with Discover and/or Citi.

Heres how the app spree went so far

8/20 - Barclay Sallie Mae: Instantly APPROVED for $3,800, reconned SL to $5,000 (pulled TU)

8/20 - Security Service FCU Power Travel Reward WMC: DECLINED (pulled TU)

8/21 - Chase AARP: Instantly APPROVED for $4,000 (Pulled EXP)

8/22 - Inquiry from T-Mobile to convert account from No Credit Check account to Regular (pulled TU)

8/23 - Cap1 Venture: 7-10 day message, APPROVED after address verification for $15,000 (Triple Pull)

The plan is to garden for a year or so while we rent until it's time to buy a house, maybe that's why I'm wanting to try for one or two more.  Do I need a Discover card... no.  Would it be nice to have a card with my hockey team on it, you betcha.  Is that the only reason I want that card, probably.  Same with the Double Cash, I don't need a 2% card, I have my NFCU Flagship (albeit with its $49 AF).

So so what does everyone think?  Should I get out the garden hose and tend to the garden and keep Barclay happy, or bust out the shovel and rip up that poor one day old seedling and risk upsetting the status quo with Barclay and my two cards with them Smiley Wink

Thanks!

Oz

Those are some great recent approvals. I think the best thing to do would be garden those tradelines. In 6-12 months, you will be ready for some other great approvals.

I just peeked at the wife's credit and it looks like the apartment we applied for today pulled her TU, so I'm guessing they did the same for mine.  I used my daily puller already today, so I'll have to wait until the morning to peek...

great lineup. sad that u used 3 inquiries on a venture. why didnt you also apply for a quicksilver to lessen the blow? then you could have done some combinations.

just curious, why did you go for the venture? the bonus i hope?

I dunno we have fairly similar scores and I have hemmed and hawed for months on the Venture. It is a fast track to high limits for sure..... I just hope capital ones new product coming out this fall is SUPER cool so I can use the triple pull to snag that and a venture and do something with this quicksilver of mine as the APR is 24.9 starting in october!

great approval on the AARP!  I gotta say in 2 years you have really done a great job with your scores and cards!

Well I already have one Quicksilver, granted it's a QSMC, it didn't even dawn on me to try for another at the same time as the Venture.  I suppose if it was an instant approval I might have remembered to give it a try.  As for why I went with the Venture, yeah the bonus and eventually I'll combine it's $15k into my $5500 QSMC and have a whopping Cap1 card with a couple years of history.  My wife is preggers and I'll probably be flying my parents out to Colorado from Wisconsin soon and that $400 sure would be nice to help pay for some of a plane ticket.

Another downside of the 7-10 day message and finding out about the approval over the phone was I forgot to ask what APR I'd be at.  Hopefully somewhere in the middle.

Thanks, I'm very surprised my scores are where they are right now, especially since I still have some derogs reporting.  Granted their about to fall off in March, but I didn't imagine having anything near a 700, let alone over it, until all my baddies were gone...

Your wishlist of marrying someone with a Citi Forward is hilarious btw

Thanks,

Oz

What monitoring system do you use for the daily pulls, if you don't mind me asking?

Grats on the approvals. One thing to note though...Apping is only fun if you get approved. Smiley Tongue

By the way.  Which team is your favorite?  I am an AU under my Mom and she just upgraded her Discover to the IT card and I got the Kings card, which is my favorite team as I have season seats.  Been a great last 4 years, although this past year not so much. Hopefully this season coming up is more like the previous 3 then last year Smiley Happy.

Current Scores - EX-754, EQ-716, TU-751 Cards - Amex BCP(13800), Amex PRG, Amex Everyday(5000), Discover IT(3000), Navy Fed Go Rewards(11800), Cap One Sony Card(4000), Chase Freedom(5000), Chase Slate(5000)
