I have a question regarding my fairly new Goldman Sachs Apple Card account. I got approved for the card back on February 2nd with a CL of $2500. Before I received the card and without asking I received a CLI on the 4th of Feb and the card limit was increased to 4K.
Fast forward to the present. I am within a couple days of my 91st day since they gave me my automatic CLI of 4k. I have probably ran around 10k of usage through this card and pay the balance off every month. Payment history flawless. My issue is my scores have dropped since i opened the this account due to me carrying an unusually large balance on my American Express card. I had to unexpectedly pay my daughters tuition and the university oversees wanted half the first years tuition in advance. Anyway, my three bureaus are locked presently.
Will the Apple Card give me a CLI with my three bureaus locked? I really dont want them to become aware of my temporary score hit. I have read conflicting reports on Apples CLI's. Some say they use your current track record with them for your first CLI and dont do a soft pull for your first CLI. Some have said they use the credit info they received when your account was opened since you have only had the card a few months. I have read also that some believe they do a soft pull when you ask for a CLI. I believe from what I read that Goldman does like heavy usage and of course good payment history.
The only other change in my profile is my income has risen little over 14k from the income originally reported when I opened card.
What do you think my chances are for a CLI when I request one on a few days? Any difference in odds of approval requesting CLI over the phone on the automated line vs messaging thru the apple wallet app? Day or evening make a difference on approval?
They will still be able to see your reports and scores even with them locked. Under the law since you have an exsisting relationship with them they are able to SP your reports even with them locked. They will look at them for a CLI for sure and you'll see their SP if you check afterwards. As to what they will do or how they will react no one can answer that. The usage and score drop may or may not bother them thus if you ask for a CLI they may or may not approve it. If you decide to ask doing so online or phone won't matter as it's all automated and decided by GS not the Rep you're talking to as they have zero input.
I appreciate your input. I'll give it a shot on the 7th as that's the 91st day after they gave me that automatic CLI. I will post the results.
I have one additional question. Looks like I already have $1900 balance on this card this month and the bill is due in 27 days on May 31st. Should I go ahead and pay off this balance today before I request a CLI in a couple days. This balance isn't unusual or high for this card as I usually max the card out or close to it every month and pay it off before a balance reports to the bureaus.
I would bet if you were buying an Apple product you would probably have a better chance for a CLI but that is just a guess
I have been looking at buying an iPhone 13. I have always had Android phones. Wife and kids all use Apple. Never considered an Apple for myself until getting this card. Without Apple wallet this card is difficult to take advantage of all its features. If you pay using your bank account via ach it took several days to apply funds to account. If you use Apple wallet to pay your balance it appears almost immediately.
Think I will get one and use two phones for a while until I can figure out the Iphone if that's possible (I'm old).

I love my IPhone 13 it has the best camera out there and with Facial Recognition for unlocking your phone/apps it is all around A+ in my book. They also give you 0% for 12/24 months on Apple purchases.
I have heard about this as others have talked about buying Apple products with the Apple card. If I use my card to buy a phone the purchase deducts from my balance just like if I buy a TV doesn't it. I think I read someplace that an Apple product doesn't show up on your balance? Doesn't sound right or I just didn't read it right.
Well I was told this by the Apple CSR but after posting that I was dismayed to find out from multiple DP's that they misinformed me. I was disappointed to say the least.
I was denied.
I suspected due to my recent usage on my other cards that I might have an issue. No late payments or any issues at all on my credit bureaus ever just a lower score than unusual due to an unexpected large expense.
Only reason I found unsettling was the second one referring to me not paying a significant portion of my monthly balance. In the 91 days I have had this card with a 4k limit I have paid around $9,500 in payments. My last statement I made a $3500 payment. I do currently have a $2900 balance that is due in 24 days. I actually called an agent a few days ago and specifically told them of my intentions on requesing a CLI in a few days and asked them if I should just go ahead and pay my new balance off before doing so. The agent told me it wouldn't make any difference and that my payment history was fine and my current balance would have no bearing on it.
I guess I'll just pay off this balance by the end of the month and let the card age while. I'll get the couple cards with higher balances paid off as quickly as I can and then resubmit a CLI with Apple.
Not sure what my score was when I applied for the Apple card but know it was most likely in the high 700's down from 804 middle to end of last year. They reported to me that my current score at the time of my denial was FICO 9 and 663.
