Question for those of you that have received nice CLI with Apple Card. Are you only using with Apple Pay or are you using the card and Apple Pay throughout the month? Are you putting through charges like utilities and purchases where there is no apple pay available also on the card? Was just approved for $2000 after many many tries. So happy to get in but want the card to grow as much as possible and I see it grows but using it alot and PIF. My actual card is on the way.
They will reward you with CLI's from usage....it's irrelevant if it's done via Apple Pay or via swiping the actual card. Sure you get less rewards with a swipe but the combined total transactions and good managment will warrant you CLI's. As long as you're using the card wisely, they don't care which method you chose.
Congrats on your approval @ccpat! GS Bank's version of Apple Card is a little over two years old now, so data points may have shifted slightly. I believe they may have softened just a little bit. Still, Moderate-to-heavy use as a percentage of existing credit limit has seemed to yield much more success. Early-on, it appeared spending at least 25% minimum of existing CL (so $500 in your case) over a few months prior to a request was needed to get even a smaller increase. Of course, as CL grows, the more spend they may want to see before an increase. They aren't cards to grow every six months sitting in the sock drawer. Larger spending seemed to give much larger increases. Although they definitely like to see spend, they are also more generous as you increase it. On the high end, it appears they have capped out at about $10K CLIs after you pass the $10K - $15K limit mark with heavy spend.
In some cases, I believe it may be difficult to get sufficient spend for growth if you only use the card for higher-paying Apple Pay categories. In my case, I decided to also swipe the physical card (or use the card number online) and accept the lower 1% rewards to get better growth.
Thanks. That definitly helps. I'll just take a hit for percentage cash back I for my amex gold (which is my normal daily spend card) until I can get a higher CL. Thanks for the suggestions.
