I had thought about doing that but then I assumed it would stay on my report for 7 years like my other cards I have closed.

If it doesn't come off, you can dispute it because it's not your account.
@Jordan23ww wrote:I REALLY want an Apple card because I spend a lot of money at Apple! Whenever I have applied for the Apple Card every time I am denied for recently being past due. Does anyone happen to have any idea what Goldman Sachs considers recently past due? I have a 30 day late missed payment, on my wife's Capital One card that I'm an authorized user on, from May 2017. That's the only late payment on my report. I'm wondering will I have to wait for this late payment to fall off in May 2024 before I can get an Apple card? I wish they would look at my total history! I have a 14 year mortgage with perfect payment history and also I currently have 12 cards, 11 of which have 100% payment history. The only with a missed/late payment is the Capital One Quicksilver, it has 1 infraction which occured 3 years ago!
Since I began trying to get an Apple card in August 2019 I've gotten approvals for a WF Propel card (Dec 2019), NFCU More Rewards (Feb 2020), Chase FU (Feb 2020), Amex BCP (April 2020) and a Discover It (June 2020). Ironically every time I've applied for an Apple card and have gotten denied I went and applied for a different card and was approved (Wells Fargo is the only bank I had a previous relationship with). Still Goldman Sachs won't give me a chance! I wish they'd at least give me a small limit and let me prove myself to them! Sigh!
you could always have yourself removed as an AU if you really want the card.
Also, that might be a lot of new accounts. You are at 4/6 and 5/12. Just depends on even if the "recent delinquency" drops as the reason and then "too many new tradelines" takes it place. I am mot sure how "new TL" sensitive they are.
I have also seen on several DPs that CLIs is like squeezing blood from a turnip. Maybe waiting to get a better SL is better than starting with a small SL? Just throwing some thoughts out there to consider. Nothing meant to be taken with offence.

I do appreciate your suggestions and feedback. I don't think I want to lose that much history though. Out of my 12 cards only 4 of them are older than 6 months. I'd be losing almost 7 years of payment history if I remove this card. Other than this 1 time mess up we hadn't ever been late on this card or any of the others.

Thank you for sharing your insight and advice. That's something else I hadn't considered. I could totally see them using too many accounts as a reason for denial if the Capital One was no longer in the picture. Especially with all that's going on with Covid-19 and banks becoming more cautious. No offense taken! Thank you again!
Drop the AU card and see what happens. You could always re-authorize it if your score drops.
As an aside not all banks/cu's consider AU accounts in their lending decisions... Also remember that reason codes arent always accurate and sometimes grasping for straws for denials.. Id definitely wait.... but taking off an AU account is not the same as ditching your oldest card... You are not responsible for an AU account the primary cardholder is, hence why its a bit of a gamble who considers it and who does not... And sometimes they only care about the "bad" parts of the AU account and not consider the "good" parts... Some folks have actually improved their standing with ejecting AU accounts that had too heavy utilization, or a few lates on them..
Might just want to garden for a few months and let some of those revenge apps simmer for a bit....
..And as an aside.. you do not want to be stuck with a low CL on an Apple card or their highest APR... GS has been slow to grant CLI requests.. though it has gotten better... more denials than approvals,

Thank you so much! I appreciate all the gems and info you shared! I wouldn't be surprised if it is something else they don't like but like you said they're just using a blanket reason for denial, especially considering it's an AU card. Also getting a super low limit would be disappointing in retrospect. I want to be able to buy items like a Mac or iPhone, get the points and then pay the card off immediately. Can't do that without at least $1300 to $2000 as a limit. I'd still have to use other cards. I appreciate your feedback!
Same here, I keep getting denied with TU FICO 9 of 691 with a reason of "Recent Past Due" which is not true as I don't see anything from my TU credit reports. They just simply hates me lol

I'm sorry to hear this! I definitely feel your pain! I just don't get it! Hopefully you can get approved for the card sometime soon!
I know in my case I've put off buying certain Apple products I would've gotten already had I been approved, holding out hope the next time when I applied I'd get an approval. pretty soon though I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and use a different card for these items.
