@Anonymous wrote:Those of you who are getting the "not paid back enough of your balance" are you requesting an increase while carrying a balance from month to month? Or do you just happen to have a balance but you normally pay in full?
It's just canned language that can apply to more than one situation. In my case (and I think many others who posted), I was paying off my balances early. There were small balances on my statements which I paid-in-full well before the due date but I was also making mid-month payments of charges before they even went to the statement cut. So in most cases, the verbage is aimed at "the proportion of your credit line USED", not the part that says "paid back." I imagine this same language could also be used if someone was slowly running up a balance on their account and only making minimum payments. That isn't my situation or what I gleaned from other postings.
"The proportion of your credit limit used and paid back is not sufficient."
This... We generious lanaguage being we aren't profitable to them and not really a good reason other than we arent using enough of CL given to us even if we are paying it off.. I dont carry a balance and have very strong scores and like alot of other people six figure income. I am sorry I am not going to use a 1% card as apple CC isnt accepted everywhere for all my spend to get a CLI.. Just a generic excuse along with conservative CL's in general for high earners.
just got an email as well a denial..
reason:::
the proportion of your credit limit you have used and paid is not sufficient
It may be generic but from the bank perspective it is a totally valid reason. We all knew what the limitations of the card were before we got it. But we went for it anyway.....yolo...fotm etc.
From the bank's perspective if they gave someone a 4K limit and they are only using a few hundred a month then the limit is sufficient. Here on myfico where the average person is more credit savvy and understands how much of a massive chunk of your score utilization is, we tend to either only use a card up to an amount and/or not want amounts to report over certain thresholds. Well the average consumer is not like that. They use the card natuarally and let their natural spend report. So risk algorithms looking at a typical myfico person amount of spend, would say "looks like this person does not need an increase".
...and conversely if we are running spend through cards that are more beneficial 3-5% category or 2% daily then increasing limits is not going to get more spend. That is how the bank looks at.
