It's better than the reason they gave me about debt obligations that actually didn't exist on my credit report at the time.

Dang @imaximous mind if I ask what you're buying?
Five transactions for $33,748 (average of $6750 each?!) They're gonna love you, dude! I see a huge CLI coming your way with that kind of spend! Somebody must be getting a very good Christmas this year!
ha! Xmas? none of that. I've been using it for some business purchases. I don't want to hoard too many points because I can't use them quickly enough. So, I switched up some spending to cashback cards once I realized that, realistically, I don't have enough time or flexibility to burn miles or rewards even if the return is lower. Out of the three 2% cards I have, I was enjoying this card the most for 3 reasons: cashback becomes available as soon as transactions post; they've never declined a purchase no matter the amount; and they 'were' releasing my CL right after making a payment, which allowed me to charge more right away.
Ah ... that explains it. Yes, I agree that having multiple ways and systems to earn points - miles - cash is good. I like diversity, although I doubt I would ever run the kinds of numbers you do. Best wishes with your CLI request. I think you'll be the exception to our recent streak of declines!
Well, guess what... It was worse than a $500 CLI. My request was denied:
I called to get an explanation and they told me it's not because I haven't spent enough, but because I haven't had the card long enough. I've had it for almost 4 months. So, why wouldn't they just say that? "Your account history with us is not sufficient..." or something along those lines.
I asked if I could speak with their credit department and CSR said no. They make the decisions and cannot be reconsidered.
I also asked how long till I can apply again. He said 30 days from decision.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I should bother to call and try to get answers from someone else or just deal with the limit and spend on other cards.
Count me as one of the lucky ones. On a whim I contacted GS via the chat and asked for a CLI. It took all of 3 min, or less.
That was only about 5 days ago, and today I got an e-mail that said they upped my limit by $1K to a $5,500 total. Keep in mind, when I app'd for the card a few months back, I didn't even expect to get approved. My TU V9 is only 677 and I still have CH13 showing on my report. (TU is my lowest score by far)
As a note, I do pay my balance multiple times per month and never carry a balance.  I think statement cut once with a couple hundred dollars, but I paid it ASAP.
Anyway, very happy.  GS is treating me quite well for my profile.  Not as good as a few other lenders, but nothing to complain about here.
Good luck to others. I hope the datapoints here helps someone.

wow that is kinda messed up putting that much spend through the card and that bs what now certainly is a boiler point template reason.. especially when the CEO of GS came out and said they would reconsider CL's... That was short lived for most even with very high credit scores/inomes. I would just SD the card as you clearly have the income and other means of credit if they are going to play this kinda game. Especially with another poster having a quarter mill invested with GS not taking that into consideration either... Great thing about lenders there are many to choose from! For big purchases that you dont have to cycle you CL many times a month and no holds just use Amex NPSL card and call it the day imo with your business spend as GS can't keep up with Amex for business spend nor do they probably want to.

Wow, seriously? Sorry to hear that but thanks for the update.
Hard to believe they wouldn't approve you with that kind of spending.
GS is proving to be a completely different animal when it comes to CLs and CLIs.

Today marks 30 days since I requested an Apple Increase and still have heard nothing. Think I should chat again or wait?
Wow @imaximous GS gave you a big lump of coal in your stocking....
Going to keep playing along or relegate them to the SD/not preferred card in Apple Wallet...

Well, I'm definitely not thrilled with the responses I got over the phone, but it's just business so I'm just taking the emotion out of the equation and using the card to my advantage. I'll just continue to cycle the CL as needed. I certainly won't be waiting till they release my available CL and make purchases on other cards if they keep holding my CL after making payments. While I'd rather use this card for the reasons I mentioned before, I still have access to other cards, so I'm not bitter about the denial -- just annoyed that they don't have a better system in place for such a large FI.

The Apple Card has been in public release for 4 months. With a few exceptions, 6 months at least, is pretty standard to wait for credit limit increases. They should have never entertained the first request but once it hit social media I am betting they dod not want to say that CLI request were not yet in wide release.
