Hi all debating getting the Apple Card. Did the preapproval and was preapproved for 4500.
This year I have gotten
May cli from 500 to 5k on local credit union card
May Amex platinum
Sept Amex delta reserve sp approval 3700
Sept chase sapphire preferred 5k
current scores are
ex 656 with 4inq
eq 647 with 0 inq
transunion 670 with 1 inq
should I garden or should I go ahead and get the Apple Card. I have one charge off left on my credit report that won't fall off until next summer and I make about 90k a year.
The preapprovals are pretty solid, so I think you will likely get that. I suppose the question of "need" arises. Are you planing on any Apple purchases in the near future? The new products for 2021 are all out and you will get 3% back on Apple. 2% back when you use Apple Pay and no AF. The phone/watch integration is seemless. This could be a good daily driver for you. Unless your local CU card has better benefits?
The CSP is also a great daily driver, so you'd have to see, based on your spending habits.

I had a bunch of charge offs 7 years ago and I am finally able to start to get decent cards again. Looking to expand my credit as efficiently as possible without looking super risky to lenders. I have also been a AU on a Amex my sister got for me in 2018. So that's been helping a bit. I did end up taking the offer. I'm thinking I should hold off let these new accounts age a little bit and wait until my last charge off falls off next summer. Unfortunately I made a payment on it right before it got charged off so not super thrilled about waiting even longer for my credit to be great again.
That's a fairly decent pre-approval @Islandhopper91. What APR did they offer?
Yeah I was pretty surprised myself. I apped a couple months ago right before the bulk of my negatives were due to fall off and they offered me $250 sl ..... so this is a big improvement.
The apr is 21.99 so not super great but we are going in the right direction. Any recommendations for when that last co falls off?
@Islandhopper91 out of curiosity when did you get the Chase SP?
@Jedibarber007 I got it in September and was instantly denied with a hp on Experian and TransUnion. Called recon line and the rep told me they were looking at the TransUnion only for the recon which kinda sucked because at the time it was the worst one. FICO was 647 I believe if I'm remembering correctly. Had 2 collections and s discover charge off all nearing the 7 year mark. I think having other cards with near zero utilization helped me

So, just to confirm @Islandhopper91 -- did you accept the Apple Card pre-approved offer or are you still considering it? Even if the APR may seem higher, as long as you PIF (unless you have a deferred interest promotion) then the APR is a non-issue.
I did end up taking it.
Thanks for confirming @Islandhopper91 and congrats on the approval. Thread has been locked and closed to new messages since you've been approved. Feel free to start a new thread in the Approvals section if you wish to do so.
