@Repairman wrote:Right. I won't be able to hold he iPad up in store to pay for items, but I would still be able to use the physical card, right? And by using the physical card I would get the same cash back, correct?
I don't think so, the 2% cash back comes from using Apple Pay on the phone or watch, not the physical card. With the card itself, you're getting 1%. On direct from Apple purchases using Apple Pay, you get 3%.
» guess I opened this tab awhile ago and all the other replies weren't there before I put this! Better info from joltdude.
THere are some exceptions on using the virtual card number and physical card.. but in general your right...
The key one is for purchasing through apple or relating to apple... Cannot use Apple pay for IUP payments (or used to) but you can charge it to the virtual card number of the apple card and still get 3%...

Your iPad will let you view and pay your bill too. I pulled it up on mine last night when I made my post.

Forgive me, but what does IUP stand for?
Iphone Upgrade Program.... Its the financing at 0% for 24 months that doesnt involve the Apple Card where you can turn in your phone at any time after the first year and get a new one, without paying the remaining balance on it....
It also requires a credit check and goes through Citizens One bank.....
It's how iv paid for two Iphones....

@joltdude wrote:If its an online purchase via Apple Pay yes... if its in an apple store purchase requring the card, yes (you may actually have to pull up the card number on the ipad vs the physical card) if its IPP, yes...
On purchases requring the physical card YOU usually DO NOT get the extra cashback...the exception is Walgreens and most things billable through apple.. (I had to use the card number in an apple store, and for changing payment for IPP)
Also Apple Card does now have a website for seeing billing and making payments..
You get cashback when using the physical card, but you don't get the 3%, but there are exceptions...

More i think about it the more Im concerned youll be able to activate the financing offers via the Ipad/or are they visible with the partial wallet app on the ipad.. Might want to wait for a few more replies.. ill try something but it might take a few days to get back to you
Do you know for sure if I can use the physical card in a physical Apple store and get the 3%cash back? My biggest purchases would be online, but it would be nice to be able to walk in the store if I need something right away, and be able to get the same benefits.
Can't answer that.. Folks did have problems with the physical card being accepted at Apple stores but that was some time ago. Had to open the virtual card on their Apple device and give them the card number...

Ok. Well, if I can open up the app on my iPad in an Apple Store and get the 3% cash back, while not ideal, would still work over not being able to get it at all.

I just noticed this. Are you saying I can use the physical card in Walgreens and still get the 3% cash back? That would be fantastic since I'm always in Walgreens!
Yes I am saying Walgreens is an exception for the physical card getting 3% back... if you use it through the drive up...
Might want to check the current status of this online.... still think its valid.... even though the article said june 30
All kidding aside, if you seriously just use it for financing its not a bad deal and not awkward...
Also Apple is working on QR based Apple Pay... which means youll likely be able to use the tablet (albeit awkward) in more places...
