Hi, I app'ed for this card today and it said it turned me down due to Transunion Consumer Report that says "a bank has closed your checking and/or savings account"?
I recently closed an HSBC checking account I was no longer using but other than that I am so confused? I haven't had any adverse account closes. I called TU and they couldn't give me any answers and said they don't provide that kind of info, only what's on my credit report?
This is likely tied to supplemental information provided by CoreLogic and your TU report. GS tends to use the supplemental data, AFAIK.
Below is a link that provides a bit of insight:

I would call GS and also find out what the issue is. Ask them to reconsider your application.
I'm July my denial said "A bank recently closed your account" or something to that effect.
after looking into the topic on here and Reddit- many people got the denial for the same reason. The resolution was to freeze your ChexSystems report and then try again 15 minutes later. It led to me getting an approval. I've since taken off the freeze.
No financial institution closed an account on me. I did however close one myself prior to the application with Apple.
sidenote- my chexsystems report didn't have any negatives. So I'm unsure what they were even looking at initially.
This. Exactly. Freeze Chexsystems. I closed a bank account when I moved and for some reason this was the only reason Apple was not approving me. Minutes after freezing it...BOOM, I was approved. You can unfreeze it afterwards.
So, if you prevent Goldman Sachs from re-accessing your ChexSystems file, they will forget that a few minutes earlier they thought Transunion, which doesn’t have bank account information, told them a bank had closed your checking or savings account, which never happened.
Apple might be wise to give Goldman some help with the coding.

Seems to be the case... but it worked so I'm complaining 🤘

Was just lurking, reading this post out of curiosity and just wanted to say thank you for this valuable information. I've never encountered this issue, but I also had no idea one could freeze Chex Systems. This could certainly come in handy in the future....as a matter of fact, it seems it would be advised to do this for any CC application, as Chex Systems shouldn't be involved with CC applications, right?
Any chance you could give some insight as to how this is done? I would definitely like to dig into this a bit more.

@Taurus22 - to avoid sidestepping or hijacking the original topic, you can search for some DPs in the General Credit section or start a new topic in that part of the subforum. Thanks.
