Applied For Amazon Prime - Forgot That’s Chase

Thinking ahead to the holidays and figured I'd max some rewards w/ the Amazon Prime card. Was breezing through the app while cooking and watching TV, not paying attention. The whole time I have in my head that Amazon is a Citi card, and Citi seems to like me.

Oops. 😂

Instantly declined. Like, faster than instantly. I'm sure my letter will reference 'too many new accounts'. I'm way over 5/24 (if that applies here) and also just opened PenFed ($21k) and Target MC ($6k) this week.

So...pay attention, kids.  < sigh >

I was denied today for 5/24 but figured maybe with Amazon being so popular they were exempt...nope! Wish they didn't bother sending a letter to save some trees.

aren't there several DPs of the Chase Amazon card not being strictly under the 5/24 rule?

Wonder if that's changed at all

@GZG  I'm not sure. Maybe. I guess I'll find out when they send my letter. I'm so mad at myself for wasting a hard inquiry.

I think I may be at HA/24. I don't think my profile is strong enough for LOL/24, so I'm just going to have seat in the back for a while. 😜

Re: Applied For Amazon Prime - Forgot That’s Chase

My letter just came in and said: "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us."

I have the Chase Trifecta but that shouldn't matter. The too many requests for credit makes sense since in the last 2 years I've opened up 6 cards, with 3 of those being opened yesterday. Since the Prime card was low on my priority I applied after the other 3 which put me over the 5/24 by one.

@CoolHandSean , With those notation marks "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us." in the denial letter,

It does not state anything about being over 5/24, if it stated 5/24 was the reason,

that would be something you could NOT have reconsidered!

You could possibly get the denial overturned? as I did -> read here

I believe that this is the phone # I called -> Chase: 888-270-2127 (App Recon - Credit Analyst)

I would give it a shot, you really have nothing to lose .IMHO

ETA: Also for @DaisyAdair , if that was the denial reason on the letter?
