Applied for Chase Freedom

Hi Guy,
I applied for the Chase Freedom card and was denied I have 753 On Experian 746 on Transunion and 718 on Equifax (Fico 8) . I just repaired my credit after some identity theft so I only have one secured card showing on my credit and 2 authorized user chase accounts from my family dating back to 1993. I have no negatives on any report. I also have a rent reporters tradeline showing perfect rent payments for 24 months on Equifax and Transunion. I was denied for two many recent requests for credit, length of time oldest credit card is too short, one or more recent requests for credit, and insufficient credit experience. I called the reconsideration line and they submitted a new application with additional info including that I was an authorized user on my moms chase card and the rent tradeline. I called the automated line after this and my application went from 30 days to the 7-10 business days message. Does this mean I was denied?

Hi and Welcome to the forums,

Chase has a process, keep calling back the automated robo # and check.

It could go either way?

Good Luck!

Hi and welcome to myFICO

IMHO, I think this is a denial simply because your credit history is very thin. Being an AU on your mom's card really doesnt help one's credit profile because an AU is not responsible for repayment of that debt. AUs just get a score boost if primary has a good payment history and low UT on their cards.

IMO, I think you should check prequals for Discover and Cap1.

Re: Applied for Chase Freedom

My guess its a denial for too short a history.  Chase likes to see 1 year min history in your name

Re: Applied for Chase Freedom

It seems to follow similar UW of freedom. Including credit age.@M_Smart007 wrote:

Re: Applied for Chase Freedom

Other than the secured card and AU accounts, do you have any closed accounts  on your credit reports (loans or old credit cards)? If so, what's the age of your oldest account? Youngest? Average? How long has it been since you closed your last account and opened the secured account?
