Applying after BK

Re: Applying after BK

Did you call and ask for a recon? I got denied for both the Amazon and FU cards when I applied. I called both times and got them to approve the cards with a very tiny limit of $500. But at least I got them approved. When I applied for the Amazon card, I was at 6 years from BK7, and this year I applied for the FU at 7 years, and also got it approved on recon.
I burned Chase in my BK7 for at least 5K.

Re: Applying after BK

People tell me I'm lucky because it's hard to get a Chase card with a BK showing, and I got approved for 2.
I can't get an AmEx because I'm blacklisted, and you have 2 with decent limits.
Sometimes you just have to get lucky with the analyst who picks up the phone. I've had some who wouldn't even let me talk and simply said to me, "there won't be any reconsideration for you at this time." No other explanation or comment, and just told me to have better luck the next time around.

Re: Applying after BK

Did you burn Chase in BK? If not I would be persistent in reconsideration until I got someone sympathetic. Sometimes persistence pays off.

Re: Applying after BK

Did you IIB chase?  Some lenders if you did are harder to get back with.. Although Chase has recently been known to have a new policy if you have a BK on your file the will not consider a recon this came about around 4 months ago approx?  I have hear mixed stories whether this is true or not being if BK on file then no overturning recon.  Sure others will weigh in.  Although if you IIB them that is a whole another story and they might hold a very long grudge.  If you did include them in BK you can offer to pay them back although you aren't required if you want them back that badly as that might help.  Certainly helps with Amex, and other lenders like NFCU, etc..

I wouldn't give up. If you want my advice, I'd say focus on all those cards you have already and grow them as much as possible. Then, if you still want a Chase card down the road, apply again and you'll have a stronger profile to show. Just make sure not to apply to too many cards before that happens and remember the Chase 5/24 rule (which may or may not be the same rule).
