With the new Amex Soft Inquiry system, would it be bad to keep applying every month as my credit is improving in hopes that one of these months itll catch? Or should I give it some time and apply when im more sure of an approval?
Like does anyone know if it "hurts" to keep applying.
In theory it should be fine to apply time and time again until you get an "approval" to work with. As you mentioned since AMEX's new soft inquiry apps allow customers to see if they get approved or not before pushing through it shouldn't impact your credit. The main drawback I see with this is that since you mention your credit improving still you may get stuck with a low limit card that can be hard to grow. Obviously this means little if your goal is to just get in with AMEX but I would give it time and wait til you feel your credit lets you receive an approval with a credit limit that works for your spending

Appreciate the input! My goal is honestly just to get in, and if it takes a while to grow after that then so be it. Obviously thats me personally.
I actually did that for 4-5 months. I had two AMEX cards, the BCE and Hiltons. Wanted the Delta Metal so i applied every month. i would also check the prequal site but never was prequalified.
Never a hard pull.

I would ensure and double check the language each time you apply to make sure you're applying under "this application will not impact your credit score" language.
I also would hold off until you're sure that month's changes have been reflected on both TU and Exp as not to innodate them with apps w/information you know they will reject with
Every rejected app is a reason for Amex not to continue this application process, so not spamming it would be cool for everybody even if Amex isn't tracking it individually to consider potential approvals on their end for you
just get one amex if you think your score are low and just establish relation with them- then try after 6-9 months- make sure your credit score is higher than when you got your first card- that seem to be the trick with amex if you initial got a low starting limit

I personally believe this one sentence from your post sums it up... for everything credit related.

my experience about AMEX is they care a lot about THEM once you get into their 'family.' If you pay and use and have a high income/paying on time, you will be rewarded.

This.
I already have the Amex Gold; BCE; Hilton Honors. The Gold was my first Amex approval (9/2/22). In quick succession, I got first the BCE and then, the Hilton Honors.
The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy was the one remaining Amex on my bucket list. I applied on 12/2 (soft pull only) but was declined. I tried again on 12/9 (soft pull only) and was approved. YMMV.
