Hi,
I am applying for the Elan MCP in a few days. Just waiting for my most recent card to go just over 6 months old on 04/22/2023. I have chosen the Banc of California MCP card because of the nice card design and also because it is a Mastercard (I opted for MC because I have several Visa cards and just one MC - Citi Custom Cash).
Here are my numbers:
New credit cards in the last 2 years: 1/6, 1/12 and 4/24 (one of these was the US Cash+ card from late 2021)
Scores and hard inquiries (from creditkarma)
TU 834 0/12, 1/24
EQ 836 0/12, 0/24
From Experian free account:
EX 814 2/12, 3/24
Oldest card account : 27 yrs
Average age of credit card accounts : 9 yrs 2 mths
Income : $85K
Well, that's it! The countdown has started. I hope I get this one. My util + cable/internet + streaming bill is now well above $2000/quarter most of the time, so I do need this one! Wish me luck :-) I will post an update after I submit my application.
Thanks!
Thanks. I was only vaguely aware of this card and didn't bother about it, until I started getting (util + cable/internet + streaming) bills always exceeding $2000 for the last 2 or 3 quarters. And this, in spite of me billing the cellphone bill to WF Active Cash (because of their cellphone insurance perk).
So, I started searching online for info about this card and that's how I ended up reading myFICO's MCP thread of 93 pages!
You sound like a good candidate. When I got mine in December, I was 0/6 and 3/24, had FICO scores about 50 points lower, and I either had comparable age or much, much lower age (less than 2 years of personal credit history, but an AU card that's approaching 25 years). They gave me my highest SL to date. The website's clunky, but the 5% on internet/utilities and not having to set quarterly categories is great.
Thanks! I will go for it on the morning of Sunday 04/23! I hope I get the card, and since I have seen reports that Banc of Cali doesn't give large SLs, my hope and expectation is for about 4K to 5K.
I'm not sure Banc of Cali is the one to be concerned about, because it seems like Elan is the decision maker. FWIW, my SL was double your goal.

Thanks. I won't mind if I get a similar SL ![]()
Btw, you mentioned you had an AU card for a long time. What does "AU" stand for?
