This is untrue.  Yes Citi offers the sears MC but it you are denied I guess Barclay has an app as well if you are qualified.

I was curious about Barclays issueing Sears card. I did a Google check. It seems there is a Rapid Re-Check if Citi can't approve the card in the store, then Barlcays will give it a go. That was a surprise to me. The stuff you learn here!
