Hi MyFico!
This is my first post
I'm gearing up for an App Spree after 7 years of gardening!
I'm wondering if I can get approved for a Chase Sapphire even though I'm an Authorized User on my BF's account?
His card has $29k limit/zero balance. I'm sure it's helping my scores a bit, but will the computer deny me because of the AU?
Thanks for any advice!
The only consideration that is taken into account when applying for your own Chase Sapphire card is if the card puts you at/over 5/24. You are still eligible to get the Sapphire card with the signup bonus even if you're an AU on another card as long as you meet that 5/24 requirement.
Thanks for the info Simplynoir. Are AU card accounts counted against the 5/24? I'm an AU on a bunch of cards openened in the last 24months. I put in request to be removed, but I don't know how long that process takes.
Also wondering if my 5 Charge Offs from 2011 on my TU will be a deal killer (3 with Synchrony Bank ,1 with Wells Fargo, 1 Sears).
Only 3 are showing on EQ and EX. I disputed by mail last week, but I just read about Early Exclusion on MyFico.

AU cards count against 5/24 unfortunately. You can attempt recon on them but most don't have success with that unless it's a card or two not many like you probably have. Scores/negatives wise, that depends. Your TU and EX look fine (dunno how much your scores have changed since then) but your EQ is concerning if they pull that in your app. I think with negatives that old you can probably still app with Chase but dunno for sure. Have you checked the prequal page to see where you stand?
Thanks Simplynoir!
What do you mean by check prequal page?
I think my EQ will jump up to over 700 when the AU cards fall off (one has big balance) and hopefully some of my disputes will turn out in my favor. I will then be under 5/24.

See what offers you get to generate atm and you can see where you stand with them more or less. Should see solid APRs when you check the terms on the offers.
Thanks again Simplynoir! I didn't realize that you could get soft-pull pre-quals from credit cards (I knew that SoFi and LendingClub do it).
Am I being too paranoid thinking that if I apply now before the baddies fall off, they won't approve me later when my situation changes???
Don't want to blow my chances!
Any tips on other cards to apply for would be appreciated. I'm going to start a new thread specific to that question (best cards to app for given my situation).
