Hello all,
I am interested in applying for an Uber credit card from Barclays. I have a card closed by Barclays during a difficult financial period in 2015 where I missed payments but ended up paying them back for the full amount. I have since rebuilt my credit (714 on Credit Karma) and have cards from Amex, Discover, Capital One and Bank of America. Is it worth even applying for the Uber credit card or would I most likely be denied?
Depends more on your TU FICO which Disco and BOA provide monthly... why post your CK score?
I think you have a better chance w/ Uber than their other cards as it's less stringent UW requirements.
I applied for the card and received a message that they would review my application. I called to recon and explained the situation but was told that it was denied due to my prior relationship with them. There was no hard pull, they didn't even have my credit score available to them, just a denial. I asked them how long the previous history would prevent me from obtaining a card and they were unable to answer. If anyone has any insight into how long the history is held in this regard, I would love your advice!
You have to ask the representative to do a manual review of your report. He or she will pull your report and approval it over the phone if you qualify. I'm not sure why you wasn't given the option when you called but it is available.

Not in this instance. When an application is flagged for a previous negative relationship, the decision cannot be overturned. A majority of individuals remain on the blacklist for an undetermined period, unfortunately. And, while there's been some rare success stories, Barclays is simply a lender that isn't as forgiving.
