I can confirm that the charge cards and co-branded cards are easier as I am pre-approved for all except the core cards.  I was preapproved for all cards for the past few months, but for some reason this month I am not

Here's my experience:  I was approved for 3 Amex cards within 5 months this year. I got Amex Gold in April 2021, Amex BC EveryDay in May 2021, and finally Amex BC Preferred in August 2021. I don't think Amex is very sensitive to new accounts, or at least they weren't in this case. Hope that helps!
