Applying for new AMEX soon?

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

Okay! So what I got from that was the Everyday would only benefit me (MR points wise) if I wanted to transfer them that I have earned from my PRG over if I have not yet redeemed them. However, the BCE would fit me just right for backdating?

Another question if I may ask without having to start a new thread---

Say for example I got approved for the BCE in January. How longer shall I wait until I app for the Chase Freedom? I'm curious to know what my AAoA will be once the new BCE hits the bureaus.

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

The BCE isn't totally useless if you think youd exceed the caps on sallie Mae but it depends how much you spend. The everyday seems like an ok card, but it kind of has to be your main card if you want the 20 transaction bonus points. If you are willing to commit to using it almost exclusively it could be a good fit

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

Also I think chase is a bit strict with approvals if you have recent new accounts but you can try their prequalifier on their site to be sure

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

Ah, man. I'd have the Sallie Mae in mind if I didn't have to app for another AMEX-- that's my problem. Since I've got to choose an AMEX card, it all boils down to the BCE or Everyday for me. It's definitely a tough one as I am not sure which is going to be the best benefit.

Regarding Chase, I know recent new inquiries and less than a year of history (NOT ALL, but most cases) can sometimes scare them away.

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

We kinda have the same idea, I have the PRG since November and will probably apply January 1st for the Delta.

I have "a bit" inquiries than you (11 on EX) but I think I will be fine.

Chase pre qualify website really works apparently.  It works for me!  You should see if you PQ now and apply for it if it says yes and then Amex.

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

I'm in a similar situation as you , but I don't need a charge card so I'm thinking about applying for the ED or BCE as my first Amex app . For Chase keep checking the pre approval tool and apply when you get an offer . I got the freedom with 7 months of credit history .

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

I'd totally app for the Freedom first great chance I get. However, the Chase pre-qualification site is very accurate and it's showing no offers for me right now.

AMEX said the same thing, yet I still got approved for the PRG.

Plus, with the Freedom, it's very common to hear Chase likes to see at least one year of history... So I am going to play it safe and wait, haha.

Re: Applying for new AMEX soon?

Yeah, espacially since you're new to credit I would not app for Freedom until 1 year (you're almost there) unless you see a pre-qual..

I really beleive the Chase website is accurate.   When I saw I was pre-approved I did not research anything and I just applied "for fun" cause I thought they would not approved me after 6 momths of credit history.

Nice!

How did the recons go? I mean basically, how did you explain to them why you wanted two charge cards? LOL
