I was approved for $8,000 with a 12.99% interest rate. I refused the offer. My score was 824 (TU Bankcard)
I was declined with a 750 TU Bankcard score. Because of a recent 30-day late.

So I'm lost, which score is your current one and were you approved or denied

A bit confusing to follow @donkort
First sentence states you were approved, but refused their $8K 12.99% offer. Typically, the process ends there since you didn't proceed any further.
But, the second sentence states you were declined. Was this some time ago or after you tried accepting the recent offer?
I was declined about two days earlier. Sorry---I should have pointed that out.
My score went up because I had a 30-day late deleted from my record.
Curious why you declined the offer? $8k seems like a decent SL for the Apple card and they seem to offer generous CLIs with use.
I thought about accepting it----but I fear that my FICO score would go down. I might have to help my wife get a car.

To be honest, if you mean you're worried about your score going down due to the AAoA/new account/new inquiry hit, I don't think it would go down much, if at all. It sounds like you have a well-aged/thick file, so one new account probably wouldn't hurt much. Plus, with scores in the low 800s, even a new account would probably only drop you to the high 700s (760+, IMO), which is still prime territory for an auto loan.
That's true.

So I guess you were just testing the waters, since at this point there's no point in applying for anything until after the car loan?
Yep. That's about the size of it 🙂
