Re: Approval Odds and Pre Qualifying

I'd been planning on PIF for the Discover and CFNA cards, possibly the platinum and PNC as they're smaller balances. Synchrony is fine as it is and is on promo 0%, so that's absolute last priority. Would it be better to allocate that money to lower the QS balance for more even utilization than having several zero balances and rather high uti on one card? Right now I can rather easily get every card save for the QS to below 30%. If it's a good month I can PIF almost everything except that high balance.

Re: Approval Odds and Pre Qualifying

If you can get them all at or near 27%, do that. Once all are at or below 27%, and Disco is paid off since it’s so small anyway, then app and your results should be good.

Hit those numbers that are laid out and wait for the new balances to post. From there, you have a pretty good starting point of applying. Your scores should look better and in turn, hopefully you will get approved to a decent CL.

CapOne QS - 2100/3500
CapOne Plat - 200/500
PNC Cashbuilder - 200/500
Discover It - 60/1200
CFNA Firestone - 150/2200
Synchrony Home - 400/5000

Petal hasn't reported yet. $1000 SL

I suggest 2 things before applying for any  CCs:

*wait until your total UT is <28.9% (preferably <8.9%)

*get your 3 FICO scores

Re: Approval Odds and Pre Qualifying

Thanks to all who replied, I've got a new gameplan and am holding off on app! As much as I want to jump into another account and nix the interest I don't want to do it for the wrong reasons, so I now am going to get all of the smaller balances to below 28%, and then focus on chipping away at the larger one while I wait to see improvements before I go for the BT card.
