Up to you what you want.. I would probably go for the Amex as it is no AF and probably get the same APR to be honest.  Not sure of your nextgen EQ Fico score which might help out what is more important to you a low APR card aka promise or a travel no AF card being the Amex (which very well can have a lower APR as well).  I just tried for everything as I was new so no harm no foul for me lol... Will try once again for the rewards before the 90 days is up.

Wonder why they call overdraft thrifty line of credit, think they could come up with a better name for marketingSmiley Happy..  I heard thrifty lines can get to the 10k-20k range after awhile as well, not 100% on this?

Thank you. My FICO score with Penfed when I was approved for the Platinum Rewards Visa was 740. I may try the Amex card then. I agree with you with a better name for their overdraft protection instead of Thristy Smiley Happy. CS said that you can only have a max $25k for either PL or PLOC. But you can be apply for both PL and PLOC but have to have a total max of $25K as what the CS told me this morning.

That is a very good nextgen score....  I bet you would get the Amex instant no issues.. Keep in mind max CC exposure with them is 50k.  So you can do the Amex and before the 90 days is up try for CLI with Rewards?   Also if you want the PLOC then go for it although PLOC's with them are TOUGH, but your score should be good enough?  If you AAoA can take the hit, mise well get everything now off one HP vs another HP in 6 months or a year down the line!

Thank you Creditcuriosity! I will try the Amex card next week Smiley Happy. Do I have to bring my balance to 0 on my Paltinum Visa before I apply for the Amex card? I currently have a little over $1,900 balance on my Platinum with a recent CLI to $14,500 about 3-4 weeks ago.

Don't have to, but obviously if they see you paid a big portion if not all of it off then most likely that would be considered in your Amex CL    I am no PenFed expert other than what I read so far on them as I am new with them to, but just logical to put yourself in the best light possible

Re: Approved Penfed's Access Checking America

I have a question Guys:  Can I request to Penfed to raise the CL on the Thrifty Credit for my Overdraft Protection for my Checking account? I now see the Thrify credit on my account but it's only $500. Thanks

I believe you can... Might want to call them and ask about it.. Thrifty I believe is 500$, but can get it above that amount, but I believe it is another application?   Although should be same HP as used prior.. Give them a ring and see what they have to say, worse they can say is no.

Re: Approved Penfed's Access Checking America

So, I did call Penfed yesterday to ask for CLI for my $500 Thrifty credit and it went to a loan officer for review, but it's a NO GO Smiley Sad. The denial reasons I got were:

Pyramiding Debts

Presently have maximum open - end credit

Got the Egyptian denial which is common with Penfed but I do not quite understand with the second denial reason. Can anyone share what's "Presently have maximum open - end credit"?

Should I call and ask for Recon? or thar's pretty much it for Penfed's $500 Thrifty credit? I am quite hesitant calling and asking them for a Recon since they just gave me a CLI about 3-4 weeks ago for my Platinum Rewards Visa.

Thanks.

Not sure about second reason as not to familiar with penfed, but guessing it is similiar to first excuse of pyrmading debts.. meaning alot of credit opened in a short amount of time..  Yet to get that from them, but they find other reasons to deny me for things in profileSmiley Happy..
