Approved or Denied for Marriott Reward Premier Plus Credit Card ?

Hello all,

The new Marriott Reward Premier Plus Credit Card launched today, and I applied but did not get instant approval. It has a message saying that Chase will let me know their decision by mail, which could take up to 30 days.

Is this mean that I got denied?

Any comments or advice to me??

BTW, I am new to the forum.

Thanks in advance. Smiley Happy

Welcome to the forums! Smiley Very Happy

With Chase, the 30 day message means for whatever reason you were not able to be approved instantly.

As with everything, YMMV. You can call and check your status in realtime @ (800) 436-7927. If the automated operator still says 30 days or 2 weeks, it is more likely to be an approval (of course, nothing is ever definite). A 7-10 day status had been linked to denials in the past, but more recently people have been approved after verification.

If you are truly denied, I would recommend calling (888) 270-2127 for application reconsideration.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. Good to know the application reconsideration number.

Yes, the Backdoor Numbers thread (which is also a sticky) has a wealth of information and all the numbers you could need.

If I want to call their rep. to check if I could qualify for instant approval, when is the best timing to call?

Or I should just wait?

Any suggestions?

You can call this number:

Chase: 800-945-2000 (App status with option to speak to rep.)

You can probably call and speak to someone now if you wanted.

Welcome to the forums! Just to get it out of the way, have you opened 5 or more credit card/charge card/store card accounts (including being added as an authorized user) in the past 24 months? The new card is subject to the infamous Chase 5/24 policy.

I am under the 5/24 rule. Just called Chase, and got denied due to high utilization. Probably start paying down my debt before moving on to new card

Sorry about the denial. Amex isn’t as sensitive so hopefully the signup bonuses for the two new SPG cards will be as good or better than Chase’s Marriott offer in August.
