Re: Are all applications at the mercy of algorithms??

On a related note, both Chase and Amex are known to pull Experian (your lowest score). So... while some of your scores are good, if lenders don't see them they are irrelevant.

Tomorrow morning, call Experian and ask to speak to a supervisor.  Tell them that you would like to see if your collection account is eligable for Early Elimination fom your report. If yes, they will delete the item immediately.  If not, ask them when you can call back and try again.

Sorry for the slight diversion

YOU ARE THE CHAMPION!!

I didn't wait untilnext morning, I read your post and called Experian immediately. I asked for a supervisor but they just transfered me to their dispute department. The guy was super nice, I told him what I wanted and he removed that sh*t in 1 minute and wished me a good night. I'm so surprised I never heard of this before.  He said my Experian report should update in the next 24 to 72 hours. THANK YOU!!

BTW I advised this https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Are-all-applications-at-the-mercy-of-algorithms/m-p/5639039#M232319

Now you just have to take care of your Chase issue and you're on your road to recovery.

Really grateful for the help and insights from all of you!!

It's a shame I only found out about this now, a week after I applied for a bunch of cards and got denied Smiley Sad Guess I'll have to wait for a bit for my hard inquiries to not be so fresh.

Re: Are all applications at the mercy of algorithms??

Now comes the big question.... to recon Amex on the BCE CL or go for the Gold / Platinum?

Re: Are all applications at the mercy of algorithms??

I called Amex to reconsider but Stone Cold Steve Austin from customer support gave me a hard no, telling me that in his 6 years of working there he has NEVER seen an early CLI from Amex and that there was no point in me talking to anybody else about this.

I'm really tempted to go for the Gold but since I JUST got a BCE from them and have a bunch of hard inquiries from the past 3 months they're likely to deny it.

Re: Are all applications at the mercy of algorithms??

HOWEVER. I do have a question. I have a corporate Amex through my company. I never log into it but when I did last night (accidentally) I got a special offer extended for a personal credit card, inviting me to apply for the platinum and gold. Should I bite, or wait?

Re: Are all applications at the mercy of algorithms??

The amex corp advantage program works well.  Sometimes there's even a bonus in addition to what you would get on a cold app.

The app for another CC w/ them should only be a SP anyway.

Also, HUCA is a good technique when you find a stubborn agent that hasn't had their morning coffee.

Also, since they just pulled your CR for the BCE... there's an off chance they'll be using the same BAD info on the additional app unless you either have them HP the fresh clean CR or wait out the SP cycle for a month or two and then pull the trigger.

What's a HUCA? I googled it and I get "Hebrew Union College Annual"
