Avianca Vida Application

Considering applying for an Avianca Vida Visa. The last posts I can find are from 2017, has anyone applied lately and know if they are still offering nice starting limits? Does anyone have luck getting approved in 600s with a short Aoaa?

It appears that FOTM has long sailed OP. Your score seems to be on the low end (not to mention other factors they may consider).

Banco Popular tightened some of the UW after the card's introduction, but then again, plenty of folks had a lot of issues using their cards.

Re: Avianca Vida Application

Well, I'll put it on my wait list to try to max out the SL when I apply. My score just jumped back up now Wayfair has finally reported, and waiting for two more to report- hopefully will pop me back up some more soon....

I wish my aaoa wasn't so short. This would be a nice one..... Hmmm

I wouldn't waste a HP if all other variables point to a possible denial. If your AAoA was a lot stronger coupled with a higher score, sure.

Are you currently a member of their FF or alliance program?

Re: Avianca Vida Application

Honestly I don't know. It's difficult for me to keep up with travel points without it being through credit cards.

I have traveled quite a bit in central america, but usually in the past I think I flew Delta. (I like the frequent flyer points- but I don't pay extra for upgrading my seats) So, I signed up for the rewards program with Suntrust back when it very first started and actually were offering a bonus on the straight debit card of 10,000 points and offering a dollar per dollar spend on the debit card.... A few years later I checked as I wanted to book 2 free flights to Miami - and somehow those points got lost in the shuffle of them changing to only allow for the Amex(?) CCs holders. Anyway i only ended up with enough for one flight...

Anyway i know Ive flown Cathay Pacifica, in the past, and southwestern, united and blah blah, but honestly keeping track of all the points is terrible with out the CCs. Its difficult to remeber to link my new debit cards to this and that account like my SPG account or whatnot, I hate it...

And now im traveling FT with my DH for work & trying to manage both of our points its INTENSE :-) :-/

Anyway, so honestly I just dont think so, or no....

Idk...

After i posted this i saw the bonus of 40,000 starting offer was only good until May 31st on the vida card, and an online guru was valuing this at $648 dollars...

So i thought wth ill apply and see where it will get me since ive saved up some HPs in the past few years and managed to keep them down through this spree...

Initially came back denied.... I called recon and asked, they said the only reason it showed was my credit score being too low at the time.

I asked them please since I travel there semi frequently, so they are reconing right now....

Will update if they end up giving me some love.

To answer your question- i just joined the Livemiles i think is the name of their program but it says its a member of the Starrewards alliance or something & theyve just teamed up with wyndam rewards. (Hence my confusion i was blabbering on about in this post- to see if i could transfer over anything. I just got overwhelmed and decided to check that another day)

Re: Avianca Vida Application

Avianca is a member of Star Alliance but if you aren't using Lifemiles to book award travel to Central America on Avianca metal your ability to use them elsewhere on partner metal depends on the partner. For example they're supposedly tough to use on United, somewhat easier on Lufthansa.

Yes they can be generous with SL, especially with the Vuela, but they're also not bashful about requesting POI.   YMMV.

What was it that made this card appealing to you?  The possibility of a high SL?
