Unfortunately, we can't offer you a BBVA Compass ClearPoints Credit Card.
Thank you, XXXXXXXXX, for your recent application for a BBVA Compass ClearPoints Credit Card. We regret to inform you that we are unable to approve your request at this time. The decision was based on the following listed reason(s):
Unable to verify your identity
Yes, do call. This happened to me, sort of.
I initially got an instant approval, then got a letter in the mail that had the language you stated. I got approved.
I would just correct whatever caused them to not be able to verify and apply online again. I got the same message when I took too long to enter the code they'd texted me--phone battery was dead so I had to charge it enough to turn it on and get the code.
When I called the rep said I would have to wait 180 days to reapply, but technically I had not applied at all since I never got to the submit application screen. If you don't get thru all 3 or maybe it was 4 application steps they don't even pull your credit.
I tried again online, paid close attention to every number I input, promptly entered the code sent to my phone to verify identity, and was instantly approved for $3100 SL.
Try again, good luck, and let us know how it goes.
well i ran the app again and it gave the same message 'unable to verify identity' and they still didnt run my credit i tried calling and the woman i spoke to said i would have to wait til i get a letter in the mail because this was the new accounts department and she couldnt see from her end
This bank is a hot mess.
I would stay away from it.

lol im gonna follow your advice and be happy they didnt give me a HP and forget about getting the card
Are you using a VPN service, or did you apply from work in a branch office? Emperically BBVA appears to try to approximate your physical location when applying, and if it's too far from your address of record it will reject the application with an inability to verify identify error.

no i was doing the app from my home computer
It might be better to do it from your phone. BBVA likes to use the phone to help verify you. Similar to Synchrony and Citi bank. US bank as well. Was denied by them in the past because my IP address was flagged. To them, it looked as though I was in Texas apping for a card claiming I lived in Alabama. lol
