BCU Denied

Been awhile seen I posted, so just a quick background.  Had to file a Ch 7 due to loss income and high debt, filed 8/2017 and DCed in first week of Dec 2017... though I feel bad just pushing forward as a fresh start on a new chapter and learned quite well from the experience to never do it again.

One of my rebuilders I got was BCU (Baxter) for 1k, and this week thought I would ask about the limit increases that you could earn from their Info page.  Awesome CSR, may have misunderstood but convinced me to try for their regular cards.  Took info over the phone, asked me some questions about my past financial situation, and took it from there.  Today, got an email, Declined... was a bit bummed.

So to my inquiry if anyone has any advice.  Should I pay off my balance and socket the card,  just pay my balance regularly for payment history (balance is intentional for that reason) or close it and maybe put the money on something else?  Was probably too soon for anything, as I just past the 1yr mark for the discharge, was just hoping to prop up my available credit.

Re: BCU Denied

Given that the BK discharge is less than a year, wouldn't it make more sense to build overall history and improve scores? Sometimes impatience can kill a good strategy depending on the situation and individual.

IMO, I would continue to use it and give your rebuild more time. It doesn't appear it's hurting anything other than improving your scores and aging your profile, no?
