BE HONEST WITH ME; where should I app to next?

Hello friends, honestly, this forum has beena lifesaver for me and I have learned so much from you all...I went from a 500+ last year on my EX, to a 660 on my most recent report (less than 6 months of growth) and I can finally say that one day, home ownership will happen for me.

With that in mind, I would love to get the forum's opinion on what next card(s) I should app for, here's some background on where I currently am:

  • My current scores (pulled yesterday) are EQ: 660 EX: 702 TU: 727
  • I have between 4-5 old CLOSED baddies, not set to fall off until 2017 (WHOMP)
  • I currently have: Chase Freedom, Barclays Rewards, Capital One QuickSilver and Platinum, Discover IT, Amazon, Old Navy and Target, all in good standing, ranging from late 2013-May 2015 opening date
  • LOTS of inquiries over the past year

DO you think I can get anything else? Or should I just garden? Or, what would would you recommend I go for? I am looking at Best Buy or Sallie Mae.

Be painfully honest with me, I can take it!

Thanks in advance!!!

I believe bank of america and Amex is all you need. Make your pick and apply. They both use EX .

if ex has more than 5 Inq in less than 3 mos then you should garden for a while.

I don't think I qualify for either of those...I applied for BofA not too long ago and it was a no Smiley Sad  I actually had a BofA years ago and it was a charge off, I think they're still sore about it.

Thanks though...I can dream of an Amex

I believe the only way to get back in good terms with BOA is to apply for a secure card with them and slowly build that up into a real card, I believe it works better if you are speaking with someone so you can explain your charge off at the time (if they ask). Amex is not that hard to get. I'd looked at the BCE, ED, and BCP cards and choose one. I would garden in your position but if you're looking at one last card (for a while) then one of those would be good.

Welp, I apped for AmEx ED and was approved, with their LOWEST limit ($500) but I am gardening away now and will give it 6-9 monhs before I ask for a CLI

Thanks for all of the input!

Congratulations! With Amex you can ask for a CLI within 61 days. (Some say sooner works) but 61 works for sure. I'd try then for $1500 (3 times).

My advice would be to chill out for a while, let your inquiries fall out, let your accounts age... and then start sifting through your high quality preapprovals.
