How much time should I wait in between BOA credit applications? I have an -old school- BOA Cash Rewards Platinum Plus Visa with a permanent LUV button that never gets approval... ever. This card started in 2013 as a secured card. Never organically graduated. In 2018, I went in bank and questioned issues bc I've never paid late. Card was immediately upgraded to Cash Rew Plat Plus and limit increased to $2400. I've pressed the LUV button 3xs since then, DENIALS each time.
Last month I applied for BOA Travel Rewards online and received instant approval $8400 limit. Tried LUV button on Cash Rew -Instant denial! What's up?!?! Any idea? I'm ready to take this out of my wallet! How soon can I reply for a regular Cash Rewards World Mastercard? My credit is in the high 700s across the board. $50k in total credit, DTI 3%
If it is possible, list your FICO8 score(s) and how many accounts/new accounts in the past year,
Average age of accounts? as others would be able to give you better advice.
Maybe the denial is from the recent Travel cards approval. I don't have much luck with the luv button either, but I've applied for new cards and shifted limits to make things more even.
I would keep that card even if you can't get a higher limit. If you have the old school cash rewards, then it could still mean you get the 10% relationship bonus. I have 2 cash reward cards, my old one (2010ish?) still gets the 10% bonus. The new one I was approved for last doesn't.
Hope others can help with how to yes that luv button. ☺
Mine started as a plain BankAmericard that was unsecured, but had a very small limit. I got two CLIs via luv button at 6 and 12 months before I product changed to the Cash Rewards card. That card now has a limit of 41k. Most of my CLIs came when BofA was still doing TU hard pulls for increases, which may have something to do with it.
Have you tried calling in to talk with a rep? If you're getting approvals for new cards with decent limits, they obviously like your profile. Another question - are there differences between your EX and TU files? New accounts pull EX, increases come via TU. If there's a difference, it could also be to blame.
Thank you for your responses. Yes, my EX is much higher than my TU score, so that might be one reason why I'm not getting CLIs.
I think I'm just going to go in and talk to a rep and get a disclosure agreement for the plat plus bc I'm sure I threw it out many years ago. :/

As a former BOA employee you can always call them to move credit between accounts or they can move all avaliable credit from cash rewards to travel rewards and then you can PC to cash rewards visa.

I would suggest that OP research data points focusing on success rates and amounts given in response to CLI requests made on BoA cards that were originally issued as secured but later graduated to unsecured cards.
Thank you.
Thank you! I called and rep said I must visit branch. I just left branch bc wait and lines were too long. I scheduled an appt to go back next week.

@Kingyoung73 Isn't the disclosure agreement in the CFPB's Credit Card Agreement Database? https://www.consumerfinance.gov/credit-cards/agreements/issuer/bank-of-america/
