BOA denied secured Graduation

I had all my baddies dropped off my report last month.  I pulled all three credit reports free&paid and they have all dropped off.

I applied for Bank of America Travels Rewards and gotten approved - yay!

I put in request for secured card graduation and got denied. I have this secured card for 2.5 years and always PIF.   I call in to recon and they stated because I have collection they can't approve me.   I said okay is this a new report they are pulling? they said yes and cannot do anything about the decision.  I then double check all my reports to make sure and there are no collections on them.  I called again and ask them to reconsider and to do a hard pull for new records. I was put on hold for 30 minutes and they came back with the same reasons for denial!  I did not get any notices for any hard inquiries.....

Is bank of america just using old credit reports? Whats my best course of action?

Thanks!

Sounds like you're being stonewalled into waiting. They'll probably be SP'ing you like crazy for the next few weeks. Once they do, call for recon again.

AFter things drop off a report. It can take 6-8 weeks for things to get to everyone. just be patient. My last baddie fell off at the end of may. and reports are clean. im just now starting to get the pre approvals and things i expect immediately. but it does not work that way. just give them some time. youve had the card this long what is another month? plus you have already been approved for another one of their cards. time to let it work for you.

Bank of America unsecured my card June 2014 when I had a collection from 2008 reporting still. They seem to pull TU for graduation/ CLI's.. Have you pulled your TU report?

2.5 years! that is crazy that you are still secured at that point.

Re: BOA denied secured Graduation

Yep I pulled all three reports, they are all cleaned except for have too many inquires =/

Yep both recon analyst mention that I had excellent history with them, but there is nothing they can do about it. I did mention that they approved me for Bank Of America Travel Rewards for 1.5k which I think requires good credit.

Oh wells, I guess i'll just wait a couple more months, maybe the 3 year mark is when they will let me graduate.

Thanks!

Re: BOA denied secured Graduation

In my opinion this warrents an email to the office of the president. If your TU is over 650, email him. U will get a nice call from someone at boa tomorrow am and they will unsecure it for u. Google boa president email.

Re: BOA denied secured Graduation

My scores that i pulled were ex 700 eq 697 tu 686 as of today, I started 2.5 years ago with scores in the 500s.

Its been long rebuild process but i'm finally in the 600 club inching towards 700s yay!

The boa secured card help be rebuild but 2.5 years with no graduation is a long time.  I guess I can wait it out to see if they graduate me later, my goal is have good enough credit to purcahse a house in 1-2 years.

Thanks for the input guys!

Your credit is good enough to buy a house now, technically Smiley Happy

But I know what you're saying - you want the best rate Smiley Happy
