During my little spur of the moment app session to diversity my cards I applied for BOFA and three other cards over a period of 2 days. The three other cards were approved but BOFA is lagging. I am going to change my address when the results of the four apps are in. I don't want to do that while BOFA is still out there as the mail forwarding process might really screw something up.
I applied the Saturday after Thanksgiving with a pre-selected Mastercard (not pre-approved) invitation offer. There was no instant approval. Got the under review message. They pulled my EX credit report on Sunday. Checked their app status online and it says the info I enter does not match the info that was on the application (perhaps there is a typo somewhere that I am not aware of). Checked the telephone app status and it says the app is still under review. It has been saying this for over 5 days ( I guess the info I input on the phone to check the app matches the info that was on the online app - go figure). Yesterday I called them on the app status number and was able to speak to someone when I pressed the apply by phone #2 prompt. The CSR said she would look it up and came back and said it shows to be under review, you are not denied but the analyst(s) are still looking at it. She said they can take up to 30 days to review an application. I tried a backdoor analyst number and got the automated hold and gave up after 4 minutes.
I asked if they needed me to provide any additional info that would help them to make a decision and she said no they would send a letter or call if they needed anything. I have not gotten any email, phone calls or snail mail asking for anything thus far nor have I gotten a written denial which I figure would be automated and quick.
This is not a must have card but since I took the hard pull I'am trying to see it out. A possible 30 day wait is not on may patience meter.
My question is whether anyone is familiar with BOFA apps and processes. A simple no will suffice if they tell me already. Seems like their automated process would be quicker to give an answer whether favorable or unfavorable. Good grief this is not an Iberia or Simmons bank app, I thought BOFA was on the ball. Any thoughts?
It's quite possible that a longer more digilent review of your file keeps them and their bank on the ball so to speak. It's not uncommon for them and other banks as well to say an approval notification will arrive within 30 days. Often times as well that 30 day message may change at some point to something like 7-10 days and then hopefully to an approval. There was obviously something with your file or possibly the mismatch of data you described from maybe a typo that made the application non instant. After a few calls just hang tight they'll get back to you. Good luck

Thanks for your response.
My first app with BofA took longer than I expected. They were the only ones that did call me to ask a couple of questions. She then proceeded to tell me I was approved. The last app with them took about half that time, 2 or 3 days vs 5 days the first time.
I apped on nov 7th and was given the pending blah blah blah status. Went on vacation and came back to my card sitting there. I then decided to app again for another card from them and this time got the instant approval. Not sure why the first one was delayed but perhaps just a security measure for them. It is not a no untilthey say no, so just have to wait it out. According to the approval letter my fico score was 727 and it was approved on nov 11th.

My BOA cc application resulted in immediate approval.
I then had it expressed overnight.
* my address and contact information was correct and in good standing with both BOA and all three CRAs.
I was thrilled with the wonderful experience I had at BOA.
Best Wishes!

Hopefully they won't call as I don't answer toll free numbers unless it identifies. Perhaps they have a lot of apps because of the time of year. We will see. Thanks for your response.

Maybe they will respond soon. Since they have not requested any additional info I can't imagine what they are reviewing but again I might add they may have a lot of apps to work thru. My score was around 790 at the time but they could have been spooked by something. My UT is pretty low as I don't use my CC's much. I just look at them and be thankful after all my issues that I was able to get cards again. Thanks for your post.

That's great. I like instant approvals however I have only had four or five. Most of my accounts require additional info to prove ID, income etc. My info on EX is current and correct so I will have to wait and see. I have family who banks with them and are happy with them. I have no ill will toward them just thinking the process would be quicker with today's technology even if it's a no. Hopefully I will have a reason to be thrilled with the experience if they approve they app. Even if they don't I will be okay. It's the last card pending and I am ready for the apping to be over and done with. Thanks for responding.

+1
I know exactly how you feel... while some love the 'thrill and excitement' of applying I personally find it stressful.
Hopefully you'll get good news soon!
