Balance Transfer Card

Hi! I am closing today and plan to grab a few cards this evening. I know I am getting synchrony home for Ashley furniture and Home Depot/Lowe’s for countertops/appliances. But I would like to find one with 0 interest to BT my last remaining balances. I almost made it to 700 before closing I sit at 696 on Experian and 693 on TransUnion. Any suggestions?

Re: Balance Transfer Card

What outstanding balances do you currently have as a total? What is your AAoA? What other CCs and CLs do you have?

Are you planning on retiring the balances in 12 months? Would incurring additional debt with any additional expenditures trip the scales?

Re: Balance Transfer Card

At this time, the Amex Blue Business Plus is offering 0% purchase and balance transfer for 15 months. There's an offer out there with a nice 10k bonus on 3k spend. 2 points per dollar spent up to $50k. Best of all, it's a business card so an inquiry and the account itself won't show up on your report. Just apply as a sole proprietor.

Re: Balance Transfer Card

I believe that the following are 0% interest and 0% balance transfer fee for at least 15 months:

  • Chase Slate
  • Bank of America Americard
  • American Express EveryDay

The better option is to not incur debt to begin with, if possible. New furniture is not a necessity, for example, when Craigslist exists.

Re: Balance Transfer Card

BB&T bright visa has a 0% offer for transfers, total rewards visa just sent me an offer for 0% xfer, no xfer fee through december 2019, though comenity is a bad word here (total rewards Visa/Visa Sig).  Mite even have a balance xfer offer on the amex cash magnet.

Re: Balance Transfer Card

Hi there OP and congrats on your new home. I would wait until the funds are actually dispersed from escrow and the mortgage is recorded. It isnt final till all this happens.

I find this comment judgmental , insulting and entirely inappropriate. It has zero to do with the OP's request.

Congratulations! sleigh38, on your new home. Adorn it how you see fit.

And I'll add Penfed to the list of petential 0 interst BT cards. Mine came in the mail today & it is for 12 months w/3% BT fee.

Good luck.

How's that comment any of those?

He started off with naming some good BT cards, and ended with some good advice that a lot of new homeowners wish they were given.

Just because you don't like the advice, doesn't mean it isn't a good one.

Good advice.  I re-financed my house with a broker in 2014.  I signed a letter saying I would not make a large purchase (another house, car, vacation etc) for one year.  I signed the papers on Friday, then 3 business day wait for funds dispersed.  The next Wednesday the funds dispersed and they did a soft pull on Thursday.

I was waiting (actually I was iching/sweating/eager/rapid eye movement etc) to go on a "Mother-of-all-App-Sprees" and I took Friday off from work to do research.  Thankfully I did not app on Thursday.  The following Monday (after app spree of 12 cards); another soft pull from Wells Fargo who bought the loan from the broker.  They did not say anything to me about the app spree and $150K in new credit.

So my advice is the same:  wait for everything to settle and mortgage is recorded before you app.
