Hey guys,
Well, I've got a $2500 initial CL on my BoA Americard, and have had it over a year. never requested an increase before. Usage has ALWAYS been under 10% and paid in full to $0 each month. I was thinking of closing another one of my cards and start using this as my daily. the limit on that card was $7500, so I went online to BOA (FICO says 761 there, 772 and 751 with some 721's and 716's mixed in over on CK, CS, NW, WP, LT,etc...) and requested a TOTAL CL of $7500 (a $5000 increase)...site said you'll get results in seconds..next thing I know its telling me to wait 7-10 days for a letter. I call a bunch of back door numbers and finally get a guy on, after two other ladies told me there was nothing they could do and id have to wait to get the letter, and i broke it down real simple and just asked if I should go ahead and close my other card and use the BOA card. He told me that "due to the current economic state and the downtrend in the economy, your credit report, and the low CL usage on the card, the current limit, $2500, is what BofA can offer you"...I said thank you, have a good day.. Mind you, I have 100% payment history on ALL revolving accts, etc, NO Bankruptcies, NO judgments, NO collections, etc..
So, my question is, i've heard other people on here with low utilization tell them that they want to start using "this" card as their daily...so do people ever call back after being denied a CLI to get a Recon? and if so, are they granted?
I know people call for recons on new applications that were denied, but do they ask for recons on CLI's that were denied?
Any insight will help...Considering im almost POSITIVE I just got banged for a HP..
Thanks everyone!

That sounds more like a counter than a denial - $2500 is what BfA CAN OFFER seems like a counter of $2500 to a total CL of $5K - isnt it?
How many swipes does the card get per month? I think that with me, in MY case, they have been very fair to me as far as CLI (99/500 card issued in 6/16, unsecured and CLI to $1K in 11/16, PC to 321 11/16, SP CLI by my request to $2.8K in 2/17) I use the card twice a day on the average, and always PIF as well.. So, on a percentage basis, I am up over 500% in under a year. Ill take that
What the rep meant about $2500 is all they can "offer" meant that they're NOT offering an increase, and I should be happy with what I have...It's not a counter... The card has a $2500 limit on it already.. I received the card a year ago with a 2500 limit.. no increases, however I havent asked for one until now. the card gets swiped anywhere from 3 to 10 times a month, as I said, never going above $250, but is also paid in full each month.
So, do people go for RECONS on CLI requests, or only on initial CC Applications?
