Bank of America CLI Denial

Hello,

I got a denial letter this month for cli with Bank of America and the reasons were: Account under 12 months, No or limited bank accounts and/or investments with Bank of America or it's affiliates.

I got this card in May and decided it's 6 statements later and got denied.

I used limit to 60% of the account in May and paid it off and then in September I have been keeping a balance of 30% and paying double the required minimum payment. I can pay it off today but I don't know how Bank of America works. Do balances make cli work or does paying off your balance make it work? Or is it just like the letter says I don't know you so you gotta wait for your cli after a year. I am currently at 0% purchase interest until Aug 2022. Btw I refuse to get a banking account to get a cli. Did anyone else get these denial reasons and then were able to get a cli before they reached a year?

***oops I meant to post in credit card applications. Please move and thanks!

Re: Bank of America CLI Denial

I got my card in March (secured), got it unsecured with an increase 5 months later in August. Requested a 2x increase 3 months later (November) and got it. Only amount I ever spend on this card is $3.24 a month and pay it off right away. As for relationship, I have been their customer for almost 15 years so maybe that plays a part.

Re: Bank of America CLI Denial

My Alaska Airlines denial reasons at six months were basically the same.  Decided, no more requests in year one, continued with light spend. On my anniversary BoA gave me an 50% auto-increase. I've had, thus far, three successful CLI's.

In the beginning, I used a 0% APR BT, but only carried the balance for a few months. Always PIF, still have not opened another BoA account.

My only experience with carrying balances have been with credit unions, and those did seem to trigger auto-increases.

@Trini88 thanks!

@Gunnerboy Ok glad I found someone who was in my same position. I guess I will just have to wait until May 2022 for the cli on this account. Thanks!
