So I applied for a ton of cards in 2015. Most host great results and solid SL. BofA was the exception, but still offered me the $99/500 offer and I took it to get my foot in the door. I've had the card for about 6 months and today when logging online I saw a link that was not there before - "Request a credit line increase". I opened the chat and asked the rep if something had changed that this appeared.
She ("Malibu") stated that i was at the 6mo mark and was eligible for a credit limit increase. I could deposit another $99 and get another $500, but I could stack them if i wanted. I asked if i gave $500 how much the limit be and she said $3k - which is correct (this card is at $500 today so 5x$99 = $2,500 more to limit). I didnt even know BOA offered this or that it could be stacked. She gave me a number to call.
I went online, hit the luv button and it just asks how much are you requesting. I put $10k, since its my median CL. got the 7-10 day message, sounds like an instant denial to me. I then called over the phone and rep said lets wait a few days so we dont ding you again, especially if we didnt need to. But didnt hint at the CLI approval either, just wanted to wait so I'm going to hang tight until the letter arrives and if not approved, then I'll call back. I've read that 7-10day is pretty standard for BOA and if approved I should see it online in about 3 days. If 4th day rolls around w/no change, then likely a denial.
Anybody heard of BOA stacking the $99/$500 offer like that or experience the CLI/Graduation options with BofA? if they dont approve it, i'll continue on using it until they do, but was just curious since I saw that link online..
Yes I have heard of adding another $99 to get an additional $500 CLI, although I heard they only allow you to do it one at a time, not stack it - but who knows. I've had the "request a credit line increase" link on my account since it was 5-6 months old, but I'm at month 14 and they still haven't unsecured mine yet, so I don't think that verbage means anything. Good luck with your request though!
Ive read it a few places that they will stack it once, nothing related to a 6 month mark through, it was just an option they said they had once they received the card. I think ive read that atleast 3 times on this forum.
My own personal experience is, I called to ask (card was at 10 months) and was told there was no such thing (CLI) and I could not increase my 99/500 card any way until it had graduated. I also had the request a CLI but when I chatted with a rep, they said I could try to get card unsecured and CLI on that but not a CLI on a secured card.
2 months later at the 1 year mark I got my deposit back but no increase.
Reps are all different through =/
