Barclay Aviator Red Approval Odds?

Hi all, I'm back once again with a question.

I've been really enjoying my new Amex Platinum with all its benefits. Just survived a FR, actually, after charging 8k+ in moving costs (haha).

I promised myself I would take a break for a while with credit card applications (3 new cards this year), but with the Aviator now publicly offering 60k AA miles with one spend, my mouth is overflowing with saliva. I could really use those to pay for a couple transcon flights.

I've heard Barclay is one of the most difficult lenders to get approved by, especially since I don't have an SSN.

My stats:
FICO EX 731 TU 727
AAoA 7 months (oldest account 24 months)
Util ~25% currently
Income 68k (as verified by Amex lol)
No SSN

What are my odds? I don't need a significant CL - I have enough to keep my util where I want it, but I think I need a fair bit to be approved for the Red version, and therefore the signup bonus? I also recently moved, so I'm planning on waiting a couple months since the 60k offer is good until November 30th anyways. Worth noting also that I only have two inquiries on TU (one for BoA CLI, another for lease application on my apartment). What should be my strategy here?

Thanks all!

3 new cards this year? Then ZERO chance with Barclay lol.

You may be joking but that's not true at all.  I've been approved for two Barclays cards in the past with well over 3 new accounts in a year, as in closer to 20.

@Anonymous. I think your chances are very good and that offer is too good to pass up so go for it and let us know the results.  Good luck.

Edit - missed the part about no SSN.  That could be problematic but I guess you won't know until you try.

Re: Barclay Aviator Red Approval Odds?

I understand thet Barclay frowns upon recently opened accounts, but I've also heard of people getting denied for the Arrival+ but then getting the Aviator.

One of the new accounts will be six months old next month, and one of the TU inquiries will be six months old in two months. I wonder if waiting would be better.

Also, I've heard mixed DP's regarding the lack of SSN... I guess I'll take one for the team and report back!

Thanks for your replies.

Re: Barclay Aviator Red Approval Odds?

I just got approved for Aviator with 17 new accounts in 6 months and 10 inquiries on Trans Union in last 6 months.  I got the Aviator 2 1/2 months after Arrival Plus.  Fico around 710 Trans Union for both approvals.  I have 20 years of account age though and AAOA is six years with plenty of baddies.  Utilization 3 percent and are incomes are not even close.  So I guess I am not a good comparison.

Re: Barclay Aviator Red Approval Odds?

I just got approved for the Barclay Aviator Red and I've opened 5 new credit cards this year and took out a personal loan a year ago. They gave me a SL of $1,500. I called recon and asked them to up my SL, but was denied. I was told that it was due to opening too many accounts lol. Oh well, i really only wanted it for the bonus anyways. Once i use that up, I'll dump them lol
